Holden Fest

We need to get a G8 Texas (other states are invited too) meet planned for 2009. Who is good at planning this stuff? I suck at planning, however I can invite like nobody's business and I can show up!

It would be cool to have a HOLDEN MEET.

there is some talk in the texas section on ls1gto.com. (holden fest) Not to many people want to mix the 2 cars at goatfest but they are talking about a seperate meet for all holdens.

I found a link, chasinracin.com, that lists race tracks within the state. There is a drag strip in Temple. I do not know anything about Temple. Can anyone chime in? Other ideas? Just hanging out will be a lot of fun...but if you can hang out AND race, why not???

I like the Texas World Speedway idea. College Station is fairly central. And to be honest, I dont care about how central the meet is so long at the venue is cool.

I have decided (been persuaded) to look at a drag track...it is cheaper and easier on our cars. I have heard that there is a strip in Temple...small, country, probably easy to reserve and probably cheap...that is surrounded by trees. Trees would be good for photos and and even a possible car show. I have gotten A LOT of GTO interest in this. Which is good. I want both Holden Platforms to represent. I have gotten a lot of interest in the HOLDEN FEST name.

Lets do this! Enough people are down, so lets get the ball rollling. Charlie, I will do the MAIN events on Sunday. Have people cruise out on Saturday...day and night...vote on the car show on Sunday and maybe even do some late racing (track permitting) on Saturday night and all day Sunday. Sunday will work best for most, I think. I dont want to do it in the winter and I dont want to do it in the summer. Fall would be great...but man that is a loooooong wait! How about shooting for spring 09???

I am STILL waiting for a call/email/smoke signal back from the guys down in Temple in reference to borrowing their track for a weekend. I will post up as soon as I hear from them. In the mean time I am also going to start looking for new venues. As always, I will keep everyone updated!

Good chance Holden Fest may be moved to the summer. Goat Fest (HUGE GTO meet) is being held the last weekend of March, so it appears. I know Texas summers are hot as hell, so to help out I am trying to find a venue with a lot of trees.

I had a message from the guy at Little River Dragway in Temple. I am going to call him back once I get a better idea on a date.

Well, we are running out of dates. Because of that I am going to spend this weekend coming up with 3 dates. If that doesnt work, I am going to see about piggy backing with another club. I dont really want to wait until Fall, but that may happen. I'll keep you all posted.
