I dont know if anyone else has experienced this, but for the past few days, its been a nightmare trying to drive around.

I have the cortex and had the 93 tune in, and I thought it might be that, so I changed it a little.. still had the issues.. today I tuned it back to stock, and I am still having problems...

When I go to take off, its almost like bucking a standard transmission, and it even happens when I am moving, and try to accelerate...

I hope I have described it enough for someone to help me figure this out...

thanks in advance...

Fuel pump?

Does it idle good? MAF issue? or like TXG8GXP said-- fuel pump? does it do it with Traction control off?

It seems to idle fine..

as far as with TC off, I usually turn it off, but IIRC it did it both when on and off...

Nick you just installed a CAI and an exhaust so you need to double check those installations. It sounds like the MAF is giving you the problem, so make sure it's connected properly to the CAI and there's no leaks. It could also be a problem with the O2 sensor in the exhaust.

I checked the intake and it looks right... as far as the o2 sensor, its brand new...

Check if the wires for the MAF plug are rubbing on the pulley, that happens quite often.

Is the check engine light on? If so, go get the codes read.

Did you remove the battery cable while installing the CAI kit?

You can read any codes with the Cortex also....

Its was running fine with the cai and cat back for a few days..

The CEL is not on..

I will have to look at the maf plug..

As far as the battery, I unbolted the post from the wall in order for the shroud to be installed, but didn't disconnect the battery

Driving to work this morning was a big pita..

I left TC on the whole time..

At a few red lights, it started idking pretty crappy..

I just took a quick look and it appears the hsrk is fine, everything on intake seems snug..

I have had this happen to me after a flash of the tune, or even on clearing CEL codes. If the cortex has the ability, check to see if the readiness monitors are all complete. If not, wait until the drive cycle is complete, and the readiness monitors show complete. Then see if the problem persists.

I had the rotofab 93 tune in from when I installed the intake.. Did start having issues until a few days ago.. And yesterday I tuned it back to stock..

How long does it usually take the drive cycle to complete? It was fine in the beginning after the addition of the cai and catback...

Could the air filter have been over oiled? Maybe try cleaning the MAF.

BlueJacket brings up a valid point. I had a sport bike that had similar symptoms and it turned out that I over oiled my filter. Once I cleaned it and re-oiled it using a lot less oil, it ran like a champ again.

I haven't cleaned it, and the guy I bought it off of only had it a few thousand miles..

Would that be an issue that would've happened sooner, or happen slowly?

It would happen slowly as the oil builds up on the MAF. Is the filter a dark pink or is it pink with some white showing? You only want a very light amount of oil on the filter.

It looks pink.. Didn't see any white..

Try cleaning the MAF and if that works clean the filter and reoil it very lightly.

How do you clean the maf?

And how long do I have to wait after rinsing the filter before I reoil it? And reinstall?

I sure hope its something quick and simple I can try n fix when I get out of work tonight..

Thanks

There is maf/ throttle body cleaner you can buy. It def sounds like a maf is acting up. I had this on my silverado after I cleaned and oiled my intake filter

Go to any auto parts store and they should have MAF cleaner. When cleaning the filter you have to let it dry before oiling it, but if you leave it out in the sun it will dry fast.

Its strange.. I just came home to let the puppy out and it drove fine.. What gives?

Maybe the HSRK sensor went bad. Try disconnecting it and plug the stock connector into the MAF and see what happens. Because it's running fine now you must have a loose connection somewhere or a bad sensor. I doubt that the RotoFab filter contaminated the MAF but it can't hurt to clean the MAF anyway. Don't clean & reoil the filter, that might give you more problems than you have now.

Bypass the HSRK and plug the MAF in direct and see if the problem stops. If so, check the pins in the HSRK connectors and make sure they are pushed in all the way.
