Not sure exactly where to post this question. I bought a 2008 G8 GT from a private sale last summer. I believe the original owner purchased it in March 2008. The car has under 30,000 miles on it and I was wondering if the 3 year/36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty was transferred to me? A dealer told me it doesn't transfer with a private sale, but he may have been saying that because he wanted me to buy a car from him.

Please let me know who the dealer is and I will report them to GM because the are idiots and should not say that to people. The Warranty automatically transfers and private sales are included..... freaking idiot dealers we have!!!! (some are very good, but so many suck!!!!)

Covered for 3 years/36,000 miles*
Chevrolet backs your new vehicle with its no-deductible, Bumper-to-Bumper New Vehicle Limited Warranty. The entire vehicle is warranted for repairs, including parts and labor, to correct problems in materials or workmanship, for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first (except normal maintenance). The warranty covers towing to the nearest Chevrolet dealership, and there is no deductible for warranty repairs during the warranty period. The warranty transfers automatically with vehicle ownership during the warranty period PS... this is for all GM vehicles and not just Chevy's.... I just plugged this from the Gm website.....

Ps.... just cause they said that, I am not sure I would want them working on my car!!!! go see the manager and report who ever said that!!!!! Ps.... also try to get an email or something in writing from them...... that will help things... I guarantee they will not produce anything in writing!!!!!!! if they do, then for sure they are idiots!!!

gr8lover, speaks words of wisdom. Maybe, he slept through that training session. At this time. GM does not need idiots dealing with customers.

Agreed, Warranty is on the vehicle, not the person whom owns the vehicle.

You're good 3yr/36k mi bumper to bumper and 5yr/100k mi drivetrain.

emissions related failures are good to 50K miles - not sure of the time, though.
