OMG.

I LOVE the stripe kit on the Heron White SS-V SE. Thanks for sharing these pics Paul. Noticed a lot are debadged on the side in these pics, is that how they are shipped or did the owner's do them this way. I'm very close to finishing my work as you know, but curious on the side badges.

Those stripes are a copy of the HSV GTS 40th Anniversary = UK Vauxhall VXR8 Bathurst stripes which are actually painted on.
Some bloke on ebay.com.au is selling the replica stripes as a decal kit.

It's the same red car in all those pics above, so it looks like some guys are de-badging.

Thanks Paul. So I'm damn close. I need the AFM badge, the green side chicklets, and the polished trunk spear. I also need to get the hood vents painted flat black (should be easy) and the clear bra re-applied to them after done. All that is low hanging fruit. Guess I'm going to have to suck it up for the airbag versus the more ghetto arrangement I have now, and finally have Chris switch out the logo on the head unit.

BTW - the owner's manual kicks ass. It does have info on features that is on my car not covered in the G8 owner's manual. Also glad to see things like the sport gauges, auto dimming mirror, and rear parking assist listed in there - validates the conversion more. Now if it just wasn't so darn difficult, and expensive to move the steering wheel over to the "proper" side.

So many mods, so little time.

i want one of those debaged front ends.

Not that hard to do. I had mine done before Holden announced the SS-V SE models. The arrowhead is held in place with pins and a few holes that needs to be filled. The front and rear bumper covers are painted stand alone, even at the factory and don't have a 100% paint match if you look closely (call it 98%). Any good paint shop can remove the clip, remove the arrowhead and front license plate bracket, shave, fill, and shape, and repaint. Cost will be around $175 to $300 depending on where you live, where you go, etc. etc. etc. Mine cost $225 as part of additional body and paint work going on.

I've been slowly adding all of the SS-V SE goodies, right up to the owner's manual in the glovebox. All I have left is the AFM badge for the trunklid, the polished "spear" for the trunklid (ordering soon) and painting the hood vents matte black. Otherwise my car is converted, right up to the gauges, the auto-dimming mirror, the spare tyre kit, and the rear parking assist. I didn't and won't put the SSV logo on my car - I don't like it as much as the V flag off of the Calais.

The Red V Flag used to go on the lower left of the trunk on Calais V and SS-V cars.
The SS-V then had a seperate SS badge on the lower right.

When they introduced AFM in 2009 they started putting the 2 piece AFM badges on the right rear if it was an Automatic. So there was no room for the SS badge anymore on the right of the trunk.
They made a one piece SS-V badge which over-rides the (Red VFlag & SS) for an SS-V car.

One piece SS-V badge goes on the upper left of trunk & 2 piece AFM (if applicable) goes on the lower right of trunk.

Don't know yet - going to find out this week. I can't image it will take long or cost much. I could probably DIY but rattle can vents in matte black seems so...ghetto, and there is no margin for error given their placement on the hood and how much they would REALLY stand out on the White Hot, errrr Heron White.

Painted too? I said the cost would be $175 to $300, that isn't just for filling six holes - it includes repainting the whole front bumper clip. Most of that cost -- oh ya - the paint work. If you can DIY or have a brother's uncle's nephew's former ex-roommate from college who knows this guy who knows this other guy who will do it for $50 on a Saturday when the boss isn't around - more power to 'ya.

They don't come painted from GM.
Bare black or bare white plastic.

Not today.

Won't the new bumper from GM N/A arrive unpainted with 3 holes already in it?

Good looking cars. I wish pontiac would've made it another year or two so we could've seen these colors/options. I enjoy seeing how we badge our pontiacs as holdens and then in OZ they're badging theirs as pontiacs.

CP, any way to get those upper front grill surrounds in bare plastic? Went to a GM paint shop and they won't touch the stock chrome ones since the paint won't stick to them, and while a lot of people are using Plasti-Dip, I decided not to.

I know going rattle can seems so damn ghetto, but the plasti-dip, plati-kote, and the Rust Oleum Plastic Paint all do an amazingly good job. I painted components on my 2005 Grand Prix GT and five years later they look like the day I did it. If you're that worried about it, buy used or find some from a junkyard and paint them yourself. Worst case scenario you're a limited amount of $$$ - best case, you'll like your own work.

A Pontiac dealer painted mine the 1st week I had the car. Inform your paint shop that there is a product called adhesion promoter. LOL

Good idea! So Rust Oleum Plastic Paint will work over plastic bonded with chrome?

Yeah, usually my paint shop is gung ho but they passed on this job. I'll ask them about it.
