View Full Version : I'm think about Baytown
I know it's very late notice but I thought I'd just throw it out there.
New Catback...new HSRK...I think it might be time to put it down the track again. Plus, I have a helmet so that witch at the time booth won't bust my balls about not having one.

I was thinking about going just to hang out. I might see you out there I have the orange car.
I'll be in a white shirt with lots of gray hair. Compaq logo on front.
Damn exhaust. Freaks me out, either I'm looking for the guy with the mufflers and I realize that it's me. Then tonight my first run the exhaust popped and freaked me out. (13.7 @ 103 heat soaked)
Still I love the sound it makes. We'll see what the second run garners.
I dunno if I should be disappointed. The second run was 13.604 @ 104.56. I checked the DA (don't know how much stock to put in that formula) and both times I ran accounting for the weather said I should have done a 13.3. The first 60ft was 2.2 and the second as 2.1 so I felt I should have done much better. Meh..I blame Charlie, he did something to my car. :hmm:
Still not very comforting since the second time I ran before I did much better a 13.5. Differences are the tires and all these other mods, I did notice that just as I was getting to the line I was hitting my rev limiter in 3rd. I dunno if I should start shifting to 4th after 5k instead of letting it ride. Seems 3rd for me tops out at 105-106 instead of 110 like I've heard.

You need a REAL tune. Let it shift to 4th and leave it in normal mode.
I guess I will end up in Patrick G's shop at some point. I only wish that these tuner packages made a small client for loading packages. I really don't want to spend gobs of cash just so I can load my stock tune for a trip to the dealer.
I don't think that's unreasonable since they still get to charge me three hundred or so for the interface.

Good luck. I don't want to derail your thread, but now that you have a helmet, you need one of these (http://forum.grrrr8.net/showthread.php?t=16921) to keep it looking good.

Agreed, my best runs with the cortex were shifting into 4th. Though I don't understand leaving it in normal as opposed to sport...?

I went from the cortex to a Patrick G tune and I promise it is worth it. Patrick even downloaded my cortex tune to see what it had changed and, from what I understood, he really wasn't impressed. If I remember correctly, the trans tune was just a big jump in line pressure and I was running lean (I think...) as well. You'd have to ask him for specifics but I do know that his trans tune is leaps-and-bounds better than what the cortex does for it. The best I can describe is the level of improvement when I went from stock to the cortex I felt the same way when I went from the cortex to Pat G tune. I'm not exaggerating, it's THAT good.

in your setting for the cortex you can raise you're rev limiter so you wont hit it in the 1/4 mile...i know cuz the only time I went to the track I had my superchips and I didnt hit the limiter in 3rd, check your settings...
