Looks like the cool weather is going to hold thru Wed so I will probably try to head up to Moroso Wed night to try for the elusive 12 once again. Would have liked to have my BMR stuff on prior to next try but weather is too iffy to skip a good day, no telling when it will be cool and clear again on the right day.

Wreck, your probably going to be cursed with crappy luck at drag strips. I knew a guy that had a 2002 Camaro SS with ~420 rwhp. Every time he went to the track he couldn't break into the 11's. He ran 12.0x's a bunch of times but just couldn't make it. His car was capable of 11's but luck was never on his side. I hope that doesn't happen with you and 12's. I think your car should hit the 12's easily.

I've been going to dragstrips for many moons, I'm not concerned. Cool weather will give me 12s.

Wreck; I'm looking to get into the 12's with my set up which is very conservative as you know. I'm less than 1/3 sec. away and I've been practicing my launch technique some and I expect that to make a significant difference (had severe axle hop last time out). I'm also going to time the 1-2 shift with a stop watch that times to the 1/100 sec. I may have Kirk at VMS speed up the shifts if possible but I'm happy with the amount of TM that the trans. has now. I'm going out this Thursday night and it is supposed to be in the 50's. I'll post my results.

We'll see. Its windier than I like, from the north too so it'll be a headwind. I'll be headed out soon.

Drag racers are never happy. Once they hit their goal its time to go faster!

Mid 12s. I expect the BMR parts I'm waiting on to help with that as I am getting a bit of wheel hop off the line on most runs. The track design doesn't allow you to get around the water box well so if you don't get all the water off you're playing Peter Rabbit off the line. Also need to look into the third gear thing, I think that's dramatically holding me back too. The car hits the limiter in 3rd immediately after the traps (like within 10 feet) so I know I'm way out of the powerband long before the traps.

I'm thinking the 3.27 gears will get us into 4th early enough to actually make it usable. With my converter, I drop to 4600 after the 1-2 shift. I have to track the 2-3, but I'm sure it's in that area. That combined with the lower gear will allow good acceleration in 4th before the traps.

Comments, opinions?

I completely agree. For myself of course I'm not using a converter and likely will not be so it's even more important. Mine hits the limiter in 3rd RIGHT after the line so I know I'm making shit for power for a good 100 feet before that.

If you think of it, track your shift RPM, see where you are after the shifts.
