I ordered the automatic shift panel and it’s pretty much a perfect fit. The clearance is a little close in second gear (see pic). I stuffed a few pieces of thin rope in the inside of the shift boot-around the mounting ring, at the top. This filled a millimeter size gap along the top edge. My only concern now is if the MGW shifter would cause any interference with the back edge. Won’t find that out until September, so for now I’ll enjoy being Lord of the Ring

Looks good! I'm sure plenty of GXP manual owners will follow you in this mod.

I just went for a drive and stuck my finger in that gap when in second gear.
When you gas it up you can feel the lever pushing back on your finger, maybe you won't feel it in a much newer car than mine but it's something else to consider. I know the gap was too close from new with my car and there was a buzzy/rattly sound from the shifter. They did some mod at the stealership to make the gap larger.

Anyone with a manual trans GXP who has changed to the Calais radiused stereo stack trim (for GPS pod or triple HSV gauge pod)......you'll be wanting a Calais A6 gear surround trim with a radius at the front.
Part No 92176910.
You wont find one in USA.

Today was the first time I drove the car since installing the new panel. I paid particular attention to any movement of the selector when in second gear. The clearance seems to remain constant under light to medium acceleration. The only thing I noticed is if you slap it quickly into 2nd it will momentarily touch the trim ring but its rest position is still approximately 10-15mm from the back edge. I might end of getting the MGW shifter sooner then expected to see if this clearance issue gets worse or better.

As expected.
From a roll give it a big bootfull and you'll feel it, it's in the initial hit.....you don't even have to break a law.
