Does anybody know anything about this trim ring around the shifter in the attached photo? Obviously it didn’t make it to production. I would love to find one and paint it the same color matched red that my dash inserts are. I heard the trim ring on the automatics pop off, they could even be the same ring??? The other possibility is it’s a Holden thing.

I've never seen a silver D ring around a manual shifter in VE.

You can take the D ring out of an Auto trim plate if you are very careful not to break any of the 6 plastic securing tabs off it.

But the Manual trim plate has a smaller D cut-out in it. It's about 10mm narrower on each side and about 10mm shorter at the front. It also has none of the 6 raised tags and 4 cut-out slots which the Auto trim plate has to secure it's D ring.

Thanks for chiming in C.P., If I could get my hands on an auto trim ring I might at least be able to fab it up to work. My guess is the trim ring comes as part of the whole shift panel, I might have to see if I could find one used or perhaps a new part number if they're not too expensive.

Interesting pic. Must have been a preproduction GXP. Looks like they used the black 2008 interior parts so I bet they modded a 2008 auto trim plate to work with that shifter. Also note the gages in the center stack.

I saw that too and was thinking a certain "someone" got a hold of a set and hacked 'em for that photo! : )

He's my theory, I think, it could simply be the auto trim panel installed. We'll find out. I'll be putting my money where my mouth is, I have an auto trim panel on order. It if doesn't work, I'll be out $50. Won't be the most money I've ever wasted. That title goes to the time I accidently threw away a brand new $300 bilstien shock :(

They have them just like that in OZ. That is how JHP gets the ones they sell and why they screw up peoples cars unlike the reprogrammed ones that Chris Whit does.

Interior of new 2010 HSV GXP
(Manual gear surround trim is Rado silver and has a curve at the front lip to suit the radiused lower part of the Calais stereo stack trim.....also there's definately no shiny silver D around the shifter)
