Did they pass some law that prohibits douche-bag car dealers from haggling anymore? I mean, I can understand a small-market dealership holding onto G8s like they're made of gold because they only have 6 on the lot...But when they have 20+ GTs sitting there, I would think they would be a little flexible.

Some dealers still haggle but most folks despise it so lots have gone to a policy of "this is the price".

It took me 3 weeks to pay what I wanted to pay....at this point in time they will just about give an 08 away.

I tell them what I am going to pay. I find out dealer invoice and offer 1k over, I tell them what I am going to pay and if they cant do it dont waste my time. I paid $680 more with financing TTL then I wanted to, but when you factor the interest and TTL and getting it May 1st I paid right at 30k for a car that stickered at 31845. Everyone else I knew was paying over MSRP.

In this economy? With what the future portends?

Any dealer that sits on "This is the price" (with-in reason) is a fool.

That's what I was thinking. I just sold my 02 SS and want to get in an 09, mainly because of color choices. Also, because it is easier to find one with less than 10 miles on the car. I have a daily driver, so I am just going to end up waiting them out.

When I was in the military, that meant 15% OVER sticker!!! Glad times have changed.
For the OP, it's called making a firm offer and walking out. You should understand first that the markup on these is only 10% or so...
Good luck.

I understand the firm offer bit. I'm in the military also. But this Red Tag pricing is the same as the military discount. In any case, I'm sure they'll be calling me back when the new year rolls around.

Do your self a favor and don't even deal with the salesmen. Do your shopping on line through the Internet managers. When I was looking they all had a 5k mark-up and didn't want to deal. I went on line and got it for 500 over invoice.

All three times I've tried the internet sales manager path, I just get put through to some douchebag car salesman anyway. Like I said, I already have a DD so I'm not in any rush

I paid under invoice for my 2008. Sticker was $31,395 and I paid $30500 out the door. So I think I got the car for $3000 under sticker which was about $1200 under invoice. That was 4 months ago. If I were to buy a 2009 now I would try for even better. GM needs cash, lots and lots of cash.

Clearly, as I am now the owner of a Sport Red 09 GT. Nimnicht in Jacksonville got the numbers where I needed them. And since I live two hours away, they also sent a driver to fetch me.
