Just curious about the average cost of a long tube header install. The shop said $600 which seems like a lot to me, but I really don't have any experience to go by.

Ask another shop. I paid half that, but my friend owns the shop.

I install ARH Headers for $375. For $600 they are charging you about $150 per hour.

For just headers? Have they done a G8? Are they doing it twice? lol

Please don't let them work on your G8. You can do it in your driveway in less time.

Contact me and I'll save you some $$$$. I live near White Marsh. My friend and I installed my headers on a lift in
his garage in less than 4 hrs. I believe he'll charge you $250.

I did my LTH and full catback on jack stands by myself in 7 hrs.

A shop with a lift should have headers on a G8 in 2-3 hrs. at a rate of 85-100 per hour.

Have you considered doing it yourself ? Even for those with very mild mechanical ability ,headers are extremely easy to do on the G8.

Depending on what brand and size you have the only 'issues' you might have are the dipstick (very minor, pull it and put it back in) the driverside fitment w/ the rag joint (also minor, remove one bolt) or the #7 cylinder bolt is a b**** to get at.Having a friend to hold and pass them is nice but not necessary. You have a lot of support here as well.Good luck.

I'll need to get the parts first, but when I do and if I don't find a local place that will do it for a reasonable price than I'll definitely take you up on your offer

It's something that I'd much rather pay someone else to do plus it will be much quicker/easier with a lift.
