Anyone had the same issue or know why this would happen?

When I start the car on hot days, the air blowing from the vents sometimes has an ammonia smell and sometimes it smells like dirty socks. It only smells bad for a couple of seconds at start up and then goes away. It only seems to be happening on hot days. Here in Dallas, we have been near 100F for several weeks, so I notice it everyday. :uhm

Try changing out your cabin filter and running on recycle air mode.

Recycling the air actually makes it worse. Turn the a/c off for a few moments when you are done driving. Let the system dry a little. Also changing the cabin filter might not hurt.

Its mold on your condenser. I had that smell by summer 2009 in my car. There is a TSB for it. I've had the TSB done on my car.
They spray some shit on the condenser and install an "Afterblow Kit". It basically cycles your blower on and off every thirty minutes or so while your car is off. I am starting to smell it again this summer too, but only with the A/C on very low.

Here is the TSB, it was posted by WickedMom on the other board.

Mine does the same thing. I think I will change out that filter also.
