Brand: Holden
Price: See Paul (HSV-GTS-300)
Purchased From: HSV-GTS-300 (Paul)
Description: This basically is a rear-sunshade (though some may call it a 'roof spoiler') that fits on the G8s rear window. Though the appearance may seem like a solid black it's actually transparent and probably comparable to a 15-20% tint.
Installation: Fairly straight forward though it's recommended you have some help to line everything up. Basically all you do is clean your rear window, Attach some brackets to shade, Apply primer to window, peel the protective layer off the already attached sticky tape, place shade and call it good.
Installation Time: 5-10 minutes (+4 hours of 'drying' time before driving)
Any Installation Tips You Have: Since Paul can't ship the primer that's required you'll have to buy some locally/online. It's called '3M Primer 94' (http://www.rshughes.com/products/021200_24216.html) and 1 little 'ampule' is all you need (costs about a dollar). You just crush the tube between your fingers right behind the brush part to start using it.
Quality of Part: 10
Product Performance: 10
Would you Recommend to Others: Definitely
Any Other Comments: It's gonna take some getting used to visually :)
I'll try to get some better pictures up later

Paul should be able to chime in on that what one should cost - shipping is what kills it at $125 (but it did get here FAAAST) so I added some other stuff ;)

Yes shipping is the major cost component of this Sunshade. It's over a metre long so has to go by DHL (4 days by air to your door). Because it's triangular in section there's a lot of wasted space in the carton. You can reduce this waste if you fit 2 in the same carton.
Example we pay for a cubic of 7kg.
2x sunshades boxed only weigh 3.5kg.
1x sunshade kit delivered by DHL air TOTAL US$225
2 x sunshade kits delivered in 1 box to the same address by DHL air
TOTAL US$320
And the reason I can't send the 3M primer by air (easily) is due to its flammability.

Ya know? Oddly enough I kinda like it. Just what I need in sunny Seattle. Need more pics installed on other color cars.

There's 2 different sets of wheels shown on that red SS.
The first set crossed up on the kerb are Apec Apache 18x8 black.

Apec has some nice wheels. I'm searching to see if they are carried in the states.

I gotta give it 10+ also Crazy Paul. At least on a MGM or PBM, it looks like it came from the factory. In profile, it gives the whole car a slightly different look. Now if I could just get those damn ricer-boy gawkers off my rear bumper. :p

I ordered the Sunshade, I should get it today!! :woohoo: I want to install this weekend. But, I am finding it hard to get the Primer. I've gone to a hardware store and a auto store. I know that they don't know what I am talking about because they always point to a spray can.
Where would I go if I want to buy from a store or am I destined to buy online?
Thanks!
Steve

Online is probably your best bet, unless you can find a specialty store that carries it (industrial stuff). Only place I could find it was online and then it had to be shipped by ground too...

Useful from across the globe. Thank you!! Interesting fact is that I used to live on the same block as this place. Remember when they started. I see that they have grown.

Paul, how long is the estimated service life on the 3M holding it on the car? BTW I would not run this through an automated car wash by no means. I like the look and just wondering, besides the shade and water off the rear window, I wonder if it does supply any additional downward air pressure on the car. Thanks, Chris
Monty

No it does not provide any downward force. It does direct the wind over the back of the trunk. I've had mine for 3 or 4 months and I didn't use any primer. I couldn't find any. The paint store had something like it but it was $32 for a 4oz bottle.

I have no idea.
The documents I have do not mention anything about which 3M product they use or how long it lasts.
