View Full Version : TVS2300 rubbing hood, not liner

I just noticed this. The throttle body seems to be rubbing and it's gotta be during driving. Does anyone else have this issue? When I get it running again I'll throw some clay in there and see how it happens, but I didn't expect this. Maybe some stiffer motor mounts are in order.

You wouldn't like it, it rubs the hood!

I will take the hood off. :) Seriously though, have some one foot brake it in gear and check the drivers side engine mount.

The TB is hitting? Not just the intake tube?

far more elegant than I, I was gonna suggest tin snips or a dremel to remove the offending sheetmetal.

Yes just the throttle body, the rear of it where it mates to the blower housing. I can cut a hunk out of the hood (it's hitting the bracing) but I would rather not. The intake tube is not hitting because I had to put the flex coupler on the TB instead of down by the MAF sensor.

They make a G8 specific product? I couldn't find anything on their website.

Just carfully drimmel out the bracing around where it rubs, file it down and put some color matced primmer on it

watch that flex coupling if you put it there. the Pulley will eat through it over time. Buy a hump hose to make the connection. If you take the time to fit it just right everything clears

The flex tube is close, I had to remove some of the hood liner, but with the AFE tube it seems to be in the sweet spot now and not rubbing the pulley at all. That said I check it every time the hood is open. I am going to redo the whole intake with Al tubing and silicone couplers and try to make a cold air box as well.

Do you guys get OTR's (Over the Radiators)??

Maybe something like this would help....

My intake tube hits the under side of the hood but the blower doesn't. Got a picture of where it's hitting?

I remember looking at some of the AU OTR, they are just ridiculously expensive to get sent over. No where near worth the cost

I know this is dumb question maybe but don't know a lot about the maggies, but is the 2300 taller than the 1900 maggie? I haven't heard anyone with 1900
say it rubs the hood. Just curious?

I could assist with organising shipping if ya wanted to pay for it. the vcm is a good otr and what i would use on a 1900 or 2300 for best airflow.

Yes they are different versions. From what i know the supercharger version does not rub and was designed so it didn't.

Here is what I am talking about to save removing the hood liner, more of a mod and only $99 AUD

And this is the OTR on a Maggie.....

The Magnacharger is different to the Harrop (which its designed to fit) and does not accept the OTR without significant modification. Refer to the images below to get a better idea.

So the VCM OTR will work on a Maggie? Cool... :) The bellow does looks a bit distorted though???

vx-355
07-03-2010, 05:27 AM
It's not a 100% perfect fit. as you can see there is a slight cut required on the outer edges
http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk147/vcmswt/001.jpg

And yes the Bellow does look a little distorted, but I think its OK IMO?

And you still cut the hood liner, but you insert the black plastic panel bit instead of plain metal.
