There has been lots of discussions collapsing strut bushings. There is a PIC 4873, with a failure causing the bearing mount to strut to make a popping noise. Below you can see a 1800 mile or so G8 with a pop noise in the front,. You can clearly see the contact area of the washer to the inner fender. The next picture shows the stress and begining tearing between 9 and 1 o'clock

Here is a set of bushings with about 6k. The one in the center is a new Pedders. The ones on both sides were the same size at one point

Here is a picture of the bushing installed with the angled upper strut mount.

this is a picture of a left front strut washer contacting the inner fender due to stress on a 1800 mile strut bushing

Here is the bushing after removal. If you look close, between 9 and 1, you can see separation of the strut bushing between the inner and outer rubber sections.

By the way, are these the front strut bushings that come with the street 1 package (also including the X member & differential bushings)?

St1 comes with radius rod bushing, not strut bushings.

This is what it is all about; to assist all of you in knowing what the issues, if any are.

You would not believe the amount of new car dealers we have assisted behind the scenes. We are not bragging. Its just the amount of knowledge and experience we have, and tons of it came from Au, is way beyond even GM at some issues
