Subject: Grind, Growl or Moan Type Noise Heard From Front of Vehicle When Turning Steering Wheel
Models: 2008-2009 Pontiac G8

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern
Some customers may comment on a grind, growl or moan type noise heard from the front of the vehicle when turning the steering wheel. This noise may occur when the vehicle is stationary or while driving and is more prevalent in low ambient temperatures (below 0°C (32°F)).
This condition may be caused by the interface between strut components that allows contact to occur, which results in a noise.
Recommendation/Instructions
Important: For a successful repair, the mount and bearing must be replaced together.
Replace the front strut mount and bearing on both sides of the vehicle. Refer to Front Suspension Strut Mount and Bearing Replacement in SI.
