Just got these in the mail! They have only 2k miles on them. Hope to have them on before Memorial Day weekend, then it's road trip time! :auto:

Thanks on the floor. If I had a live-in girlfriend right now I'm sure the mufflers wouldn't be there. LOL. Can't fit them in the garage.

are they louder the the GT mufflers?

Yes - from what I hear. They have a more straight-pipe design, less resonators but no drone. Gonna get them installed next week. They're mainly louder when you start up the car, rev it and at WOT but quiet when cruising. I was told that by a GXP owner.

I have them on my GT and love them. The look tons better than the sotck tips out back. They make a nice sound at start up that actually sounds like a V8 under the hood, and definitely at WOT. Probably sound real good with your setup.

+1
I just put mine on last night and they are exactly what I was looking for. The tips are 3" as opposed to 2.75" for the GT mufflers and I think they protrude a bit further out (I have GT diffuser). Sound great when I want them to, quiet when cruising.

I've heard these on a cammed gt, very very raspy. Not my cup of tea but definately louder then the gt muffs.

You are definitely right, but I had to find out somehow. :) After a lot of research I think some SLP PowerFlo's are in order. Bob The Monkee and I have almost the same setup and the PowerFlo's sound nice on his car.

So Dan, how do you compare these to the stock GT mufflers? Any drone? If so, at what rpm? Gonna make another switch down the road?

They're definitely louder, especially on startup and WOT. Even partial WOT. Keep in mind I have American Racing Headers, which makes them even louder. I'm getting used to the loudness but like the other guy said, it is raspy and even ricy at times. I am definitely going to make another switch - to SLP PowerFlo's and sell the GXP mufflers.

The GXP mufflers create some drone at times. I would say more frequently while accelerating between 30-40mph.

Wow! Sorry to hear Dan. Maybe also the Cam has some more to do with the harmonics. I wouldn't think it would be raspy.. I thought for sure it was going to sound killer. Do you have High flow cats? Post a vid if you can.

No worries, Chris. Buying them was my call and as you know sound and loudness is all subjective. I've only had them on for a week so I might give it some more time. As I continue to do research on axlebacks and how they sound, I've simply discovered SLP PowerFlo's sound to be more appealing to me. I could easily buy them and find they are too loud too. On the other hand, the tone is much lower and so they might be just right. After learning Bob The Monkee went through five exhaust set ups, I don't feel so bad that I'm not 100% happy with my first axleback purchase. :)

And yes, I do have high flow cats; they're integrated in the AR Headers.

Dan, you sold these way too fast. I just installed some GXP mufflers on my cammed G8 with ARH 1 7/8" headers with cats and the Magnaflow 12468 mid-muffler. The sound is really refined. Can't say that about GXP mufflers without the mid-muffler, but if you're looking for a business-like sound, this may be what you are after.

The Cherry Bomb Vortex mufflers (couple with the mid-muffler) give the DEEP sound all the guys love. The GXP mufflers (coupled with the mid-muffler) give the mature sound my wife and business clients seem to like better. Depends on what you're looking for.

I prefer the stock sleeper mufflers

Dang, I just happened to browse the forum after a long while and was surprised to see this thread active for today. Dammit! No shit, you like the GXP mufflers coupled with the magnaflow mid muffler??? What made you decide to even try GXP mufflers after you heard my video from months ago?

My concerns about any new exhaust solution is that it will be too loud or raspy or both, considering I tried GXP mufflers already followed by SLP axle backs; both combos were without a mid muffler with an internal x-pipe.

While I like a deep V8 sound, I don't think I could live with it very long. Sounds like the GXP's with mid muffler might be the way to go. Can you post a video?
