Hey all! I'm looking at buying a sport quad. Aside from brand battles what should i look for when buying a used machine. I want something reliable! I used to own a yamaha raptor 660r. I love yamahas but im thinking about going the honda route this time and picking up an 06 or 07 trx 450r. Anways i bought my raptor used and it was great. any advice on what to look for to make sure the rings aren't fried, suspension shot ect? Thanks for any input!

well i have a scrambler 500 and can run with 660's all day,but its not a true sport quad, but as far as things to look for: worn boots(ie.a arm),bent axle(even a slight bend will be dangerous),open up the a pillar in front and check for wires that have been fucked with-if there is aftermarket stuff, electrical diagnostics are expensive.the honda 450 is a tried and true bike.never heard of trouble with it.I am a polaris fan,but lets face it...most quads can take a beating. With todays economy you can get a steal so stay away from older quads if you can afford it.Good luck! oh...try atvconnection.com the forums are excellent for info once you find a quad you are serious about buying.
