Will The Rear Antenna Fin From A 2010 Buick LaCrosse Work On A G8

So I was sitting here at the dealer while my car is in service doing work when I noticed the antenna on the Buick LaCrosse on the showroom floor. A color matched fin. That also got me thinking that the AM/FM/XM/OnStar/GPS goodies would be all in that antenna. So then that got me wondering, could the Buick LaCrosse Antenna work as a G8 replacement antenna? If there was minor modification to get it to mount would it work if it isn't a 1:1 replacement?

I asked this question a few months ago on the other board and was told that it would NOT work. No idea why though
