Yeah thats the WD MINI, if you put it in the glove box you have to use an ir repeater to use the remote so some people mount it there to make it work with the remote at anytime.

Cost $59.99 from amazon. also got a 12v, 2amp, car adapter for it from radio shack $9.99, and bought velcro from radio shack, to put up mini.
Ran the car adapter from arm rest cigarette lighter, to cubby hole, i will take pics to show you how i actually ran it.
The car adapter is great, it actually has a on/off switch. Also mini comes with a remote.
Yesterday was having lunch in my car and watching a movie!! so awesome!! and also extremely cool!!!
This car is just the best!!! i love this car so much!

you use a memory stick, or portable hard drive, plug into the USB port of this device, and you can watch movies, photos, even listen to mp3's.

See that little cubby in the picture blackoutgt is referring to? My 2008 G8 GT does not have the flip up cubby door, am I missing it??? is there supposed to be one on every G8?

Ok...I am missing the little flip up door over the cubby below the stereo by the cigarette lighter, is there supposed to be a flip up door like the one pictured here in our G8's? Mine is gone! sorry if a dumb question..

I don't think that's a door, I think that's the top surface of the WD TV that you're seeing. The smoker's package did come with a door for the ashtray:

And then there's the full cubby door available with the trim kits Crazy Paul offers:

But stock, there is no door, just an open cubby.

is the console in the last picture Stock? Or is that the smokers package with a full door? Or is this with the trim kit from CP? Sorry if that's confusing...

Yeah, mine is an open cubby, but if you reach your hand above the cubby it feels like something is missing, there is an open hole there. Is that supposed to be open?

That last picture is from CP. You can get a Holden smoker's kit to go with his trim kit that has a full door, different from the Pontiac smoker's kit. Here's a picture of the cubby on my own G8 when it was stock, the way all G8s came.

Nope , TV won't work while moving , unless you have a special tuner AND you live in an area that has Mobile TV being broadcast. 90% of the country does not.

I've been running the same setup in my van for almost two years and it works great. Van has factory roof mounted screen and aux input so that makes it super easy. I velcro'd a slim 500gb usb hard drive to the wdtv and loaded it with media. Absolutely great for the kids on long trips, no messing with DVD's etc. In the G8 you may want to add rear headrest screens.
