LS3 injectors

I have a few technical questions regarding the LS3 motor. The specs say that the LS3 comes with 5.0 g/s (47 lb/hr) injectors like the ones in the LS7. How much horsepower will those injectors support before needing replacing? Are the injectors the weak link or is the fuel pump/rail potentially a weak spot too? I'm asking because I plan (assuming nothing unforeseen happens) on getting a supercharger of some sort eventually for the GXP.

Injectors and pump for sure on a FI combo. Depending on HP levels fuel rails and lines too.

Chas, on the subject of LS-3's, do you have an opinion on how much VMS can do with he GXP engine? I know it's already tuned for premium, but whattaya think?

I thought our injectors (L76) and the LS7 were 39lb/hr injectors.

Estimated Horsepower figures are calculated at 80% duty cycle and 95% duty cycle also based on BSFC (Brake Specific Fuel Consumption).

.57 BSFC - Supercharged (SC) / Turbocharged Non Intercooled Engine


56fwhp/injector @80% =450fwhp
66fwhp/injector @95% = 530fwhp

[Note the highest BSFC applies because of the Supercharging]

.36 BSFC - Turbocharged Intercooled Diesel
.38 BSFC - Turbocharged Non-Intercooled Diesel
.42 BSFC - Race Engine or Older Diesel Engine *
.47 BSFC - Hi Performance Engine *
.52 BSFC - Modern Stock Engine or Light Modifications Engine *
.57 BSFC - Supercharged (SC) / Turbocharged Non Intercooled Engine
* - These include N/A engines or Supercharged/Turbocharged Intercooled Engines.


If the engine was not Supercharged (.47BSFC) the same injectors would support
68fwhp/injector @80% =545fwhp
80fwhp/injector @95% = 640fwhp

I thought our injectors (L76) and the LS7 were 39lb/hr injectors.

Some reports say 39lb/hr and others say 42lb/hr.

I just went and looked at my L76, the injectors are GM # 12576341, Bosch #0280158051.

Bosch chart says #0280158051 = 300g/min
It does not say at what fuel pressure this is measured.



Internet says "stock LS3/LS7 injector. 39.82 lb injectors @58 PSI pn 12576341"
