Hey there is only 2 Sat. Test and Tunes left for the season, and I'm calling you Mi., and Oh. G8's out! I'm tired of being the only G8 there week after week. Supposedly there is all these bad ass tuned VMS G8's out there....Come show me what you got and see how it compares to a New Era/Livernois Hybrid! :spc:

Jay - How did you do at Milan this weekend? I'm planning on going this Saturday 11/8. Do I need a shut off switch?

They haven't said anymore about the shut off......So I would say you're fine. Have only had one tech have me pop the hood so far. I actually ran slower this week with the DR's on. 12.9's @ 115 MPH and a 2.15 60' time. I'm gonna run my street tires again on Sat., screw the DR's.

Jay: Man, I can't believe you're not getting sub 2.0 second 60' times with drag radials. I'll PM you my cell phone number so we can get a hold of each other prior to going to the track. (Or at the track).

I'm looking forward to seeing your car......

When I went to Island, Tech asked me "are the battery and fuel tank in the factory location".

The answer is "YES".

yup. I do expect we'll see some techs interpret it differently though. I emailed NHRA for clarification but got no reply.

Jay, I'm totally in for going ASAP, but the wait until April is going to kill me! We've gotta go either the 1st or 2nd week Milan is open (or both). I've still got your cell phone number.

I'm going to get some runs in now that I have 0% Torque Management to see if I can hit the 12's. Then it is cam time! :)

How does the 0% TQ management feel with your stall? I have my stall sitting here staring at me. I feel you on wanting to go to the track. They open up here in March.

The car will lay down a nice patch of rubber on the 1-2 shift. It will bark'em hard on the 2-3. It feels like it wants to chirp the tires on the 3-4.

In other words, it is nothing like the 50% setting. It is VERY positive.

Yep, I totally agree with George about the 3200 Yank Stall, it is fun as hell. But in the gas mileage department, I think mine has definitely gone down, even highway mileage.

If I had it to do over again, I might see how much RWHP & RWTQ and 1/4 mile time I could get with all my modding, but minus the Torque Converter.

I think with out it I could get my RPM's to 1600-1800 highway and get better gas mileage than I'm seeing now with the Torque Converter in.

Put some DRs on that beast and lay down a few solid 12s and you really won't care about the 1 or 2 MPG you lost.

I don't.

I hear you & totally agree, but I want to see how fast I can go on the stock 18" all season tires.

Will Drag Radials help other than the 60ft. area? Like will you pick up better times from after the 60' mark till the end of the 1/4 mile with Drag Radials as opposed to regular stock tires?

...

GeorgeInNePa

An improvement to the 60ft is an improvement at the big end. It's actually worth more than 1 to 1. A tenth at the 60lights is worth .15 at the big end of the track.

Get some DRs.

I didnt know they even considered ranking like that. If they do, I will swap the converter out and do it both ways. It use to be N/A stock short block/cubic inches and anything else goes. Only other thing I have seen is full weight.

by the time you got around to that there would be more then just paul to worry about ;) not too shabby considering no portwork on the heads, just a stage 1 cam, and a stock tire with zero suspension upgrades... I wonder what a tire, full suspension, converter and heads would accomplish

rules? whining? I am simply stating I think Pauls car has to be the fastest NA car with stock cubes, converter, gear, and tire... does anyone know any G8 faster with these limitations? I was saying that I really want to see what a tire, good launch, and cylinder heads would do for it...

I never said his car wasnt fast. You use the words "with limitations". Thats a joke Andy. So, if it had tires, converter and heads and it ran that would it be slow? NO. There are a few that will be in the 12.30s with a converter and tires and no cam soon. Are they "limited'"?

Ah, the limitations thing was just the wrong wording, I have not been feeling well all day, so my brain isn't functioning right when choosing the perfect words. as far as them being "limited" I would still use that term since the lack of a better camshaft would be "limiting" their car's potential. Once again, not saying that number isn't impressive, but it's limited compared to what a different combo might do. Just get your pile to the track so we know if we need any slight tweaks to do to Pauls car to lay a Motor City beat down on ya :spank: :D

Ugh! Well the burn out in manual definately helped, and no stall issues.....60' times still suck though, next time I will drop the pressure down to 16lbs, as 18lbs netted me no better than a 2.07 tonight. No faster runs either, but was 73 and very humid :(
Dan from Livernois was there working on his Outlaw Mustang but as he was busy with his toy I didn't want to bother him to much with my issues. Did turn an awesome bulb (.0090 and a .0409) so reaction is there at least. Very, very frustrating knowing my car is in the 11s and I just can't seem to get it there. :hang:

Besides adjusting the tire pressure, or playing with the traction control at the start, and short of a "driver" mod I'm at a loss as to what to do.

Hi Jay! I wonder if the stall would be the key. Because both Reggie & Robert ran 11.98 & 12.0 respectively with cammed & stalled G8s, and they were using MT ET Drag Radials.

Hey, are you & Dana Miller still getting a G8 Milan Track Rental meet together?

I've been thru all this coverter stuff when I was drag racing. You need that stall with the cam your running. Your 60's should be in the 1.80 and I agree with Charlie, 2800 would be ideal for the street and still be nasty enough at the track. I had a converter built for my nova years ago, they messed up the stall at Coan converters and my car wouldn't leave for shit. They got my converter specs mixed up with another one they were building for a big-big block and I couldn't get mine to stall over 2500 with a trans brake. It was supposed to be 6000 stall. I was running about 700 lift roller and this fuckin car couldn't get out of its own way, got it fixed and it was jack the bear. That just kills your 60 ft times and you have killer mph, so, bite it like Charles said and you'll pick up a shit load of time. I don't know what you cam specs are, but, it may not start pulling til 2000 and to get into that power band of the cam shaft you need to get the R's up there so it can leave hard. Good luck
