If I was going to be in town I would be there, but sadly no luck.

I'm sick of renting helmets but I'm game for Friday night after work.

Will a motorcycle helmet pass?

I think so as long as it's certified and fits my large head :) I need to buy one but I want to really try them on first. I have no idea where to go for something like that.

Racing is from 5pm-9pm so I can be there around 5:00 or so. They have free racing the first 2 weekends, you just have to pay $12 for admission.

I will be leaving work in Milwaukee at around 5pm. I have a feeling GLD is going to be a zoo. I'm also going to pick up a new helmet tomorrow morning in Milwaukee. I'm pretty sure the helmet I've rented was an old motorcycle helmet and their website doesn't say anything about SA2005 or anything else.

Yeah with nice weather I'm sure it'll be packed. I don't think they are concerned what kind of helmet you have, as long as it's in good shape that's all that matters.

Just stop by sportland 2. They are just off the Rawson Rd exit of 94. They usually have a large selection of helmets. They are motorcycle helmets but you should not have a problem with them.

I am going to try Pegasus Racing in New Berlin today for a helmet. But I'm not racing tonight because I woke up with a flat tire! There is a huge screw right between the tread blocks so I don't know if it can even be fixed.

Sure it can be fixed, you can plug it or patch it as long as it's not in the sidewall. Tomorrow it's supposed to rain, so today is the day to go.

Well I took the truck to work and the tire can't get patched up until tonight after work... I'm just going to give up hope for racing this weekend. My blower shipped and I have brakes to install so I might as well get to tearing it apart!

Hey folks, did anyone make it to GLD for opening weekend? I have given up trying to go opening weekend, because it is usually a zoo. Tons of cars, long lines, poor traction, and lots of waits for oildowns and broken cars. I have arranged my schedule to go for the first time on Wednesday April 14, and then possibly again on Wednesday April 21. Any chance any of you might make those dates? I hope to see some other G8s there!

I should be able to go on the 14th, weather pending. I'll let you know as the day gets closer.

I hope the long-range forecast changes by then (which is very likely). Right now they are calling for a 40% chance of showers in Union Grove that day with high of 54, and low of 40. That is why I scheduled 2 possible dates, since weather is so unpredictable this time of year. I think this month will be my best (and possibly last) chance to break into the 12s bone stock. I hope it happens that night!

The forecast is looking good for Wednesday, and it looks like a few other G8s will be there. I hope there will be a number of us from WI & NW IL!!

It looks like weather will be cooperating for tomorrow. Winds out of the south (I LOVE TAIL WINDS!), and decent temp and humidity. Predictions show Density Altitudes starting at about 1700 and dropping off to just below 1000. That isn't great, but it's not too bad either. I am really looking forward to this!

I wish the track was closer and I didn't have to work 2nd shift. I always wanted to see what one of my vehicles could do. I am hoping to get my car to the dyno before summer though to see what kind of power it has before I start doing mods. Found out the other day there's a dyno about 10 miles from my house and the guy has been involved with some high HP builds. What's the going rate for dyno time? The guy quoted 150/hr.

We are shooting for next Wednesday too. Last night was pretty decent. We had 3 GXPs there, 2 M6 (both stock), and 1 A6 (full BMR poly kit). It was amazing what a difference the poly kit, even on a car with RS-As, did. Jason (Woodys GXP) was a full tenth quicker in his 60 fts than either of us. He ran a best of 13.08, to my best of 13.20, and the other M6 GXP was at 13.26. It was a good night. Maybe you can join us next Wednesday. The air is supposed to be even better then!

I think I raced 2 different WRXs, one of them definitely had an STi badge, don't remember about the other. I really don't remember much about their trunks, since I was mostly looking at their hoods...... in my rearview mirror ;-), LOL!

When I went last week track prep for street car night was like zero. They said they sprayed the goo for the first 20 feet but I never saw it. I couldn't hook worth a crap on my street tires.

Depends on the track; some check stickers and require SA2005.

I used my motorcycle helmet last wednesday. Might go again this week. Anyone going Wednesday night?
