Just wondering if there is anyone out there that has put a lot of miles on their G8. And if you had many issues. I drive about 20k miles per year and plan on keeping my G8 for 4-5 years.

I have 27k on mine, but haven't driven it the last 2 winters. I put 17k in the 1st 6 months and had no problems. Ask Caretaker. He travels also.
I drove over 1k miles last week in my truck.

There were assorted issues. All were covered under warranty (before modded)

About same issues based on the milage factor.

I'm at 16000 on the button and now have a really nice engine tick. Fairly loud from the outside. Doesn't go away with warming the car up, either.

Other than that, no real issues other than the annoying tranny whine that others have had.

At one year and 13.5k miles. I've been hit twice. Only "issue" is that the sun roof will need adjustment to get rid of a creak when the frame twists on a ramp. Second time it needs to be adjusted. Even so, minor nit and doesn't leak. High praise from me because I did not want the 'roof but had to eat it to get Bluetooth. I'm happy.

Just pinged 25K miles. I've had a few issues:

Rod cap sheared off, engine replaced.
All 4 control arms, replaced.
Onstar GPS module, replaced.
Tranny seals replaced, tranny still slipping as a result of flare, will require a rebuild w/ new clutches.

Still love the car.

I have 29k on mine... 70 mile roudtrip commute to work everyday adds up fast. No performance mods and no problems. I have an airbag light that comes and goes daily which should be fixed soon. No flare, no engine problems.

I bought mine in 7/2008 and have just over 15,000 miles. Only problem so far (knock on wood) is the steering wheel paint peeling.

A local guy had his 2008 online for $13,300 with 94,000 miles. Said the car still rides and drives like new. The only thing the guy mentions is rock chips on the front.

Just turned 29k on mine today on the way home from work. I drive 49 miles round trip. The only issue I've had is this stupid suspension clunk. Once I get that fixed, it will be as good as new. Still drives as strong as ever and rides perfectly straight. Absolutely love this car.

I have 16k on the clock after 10 months. It runs great. I have had no problems other than my gas cap loosening up and making the check engine light come on. The other two problems i have had are due to abuse (not by me) Someone rear-ended me (no problems since) and the carwash ripped my gas cap door off. Runs like a champ!

32,000 and no problems so far runs and drives like new, oh well better than new in some departments. Just about time to replace the tires.

You'll need to change your oil sooner than most. Short runs are bad for the oil.

40k miles and just little annoyances... most all of it due to modding.

A little over 18,000 miles here after taking delivery on May 21st, 2009. I've had a few issues, all of them relatively minor and fixed under warranty: radio malfunctioning and shaft seal on water pump failed. Ok, and a fog light bulb burned out. But that's not a big deal, and amazingly enough, it was fixed under warranty!

Still love the car, though. In fact, I love it the more I own it. I keep longingly eyeing all the mods I want to buy... One of these days my signature will start containing a list of actual mods.

I did it every 3-4 months on my last car, religiously

Have clocked 25K in 14 months. Problems: 1 replaced engine oil pressure switch, the thin paint does not handle rocks very well. Wavy rotors (my fault!) Just put on new tires (again-my fault) And the usual recall issues. Still love the car and intend to further modify whenever Vector comes out the with turbo kit...

You beat me last week Ray. I only did 590 miles.

I just hit 46,000 with 19 months on the road.
Longest ride was from CT to TX and back
last summer. 3700+ miles.

Been back to the dealer once for the TPMS
and brake light recalls and the front bushing.

Other than that just change the oil when
it tells me to. I am using synthetic.

Still rides and drives like it did when it was new.

I've got 4900 miles on my early 2009 and beginning to tire of having it spend so much quality time at my dealer. The front suspension rattles, clanks and squawks; so far we've replaced both lower control arms and radius rods, both front upper strut mounts and the left strut itself. Now it just rattles, the clanks and squawks have been exorcised (my 80 year-old father asked me what was falling off of my new car). Then we have the occasional lifter tick (only when there are people listening or watching my NEW car), and the radio that had to be replaced after it refused to surrender my CD's. My dealer has been nothing less than great, but I can tell that they are getting as frustrated as I am. I sold my 11 year-old Grand Prix to buy this car, and my initial feeling of euphoria lasted about 15 minutes. Hopefully the thrill will return, but right now I am very disappointed.

Consumer Reports (Consumer Union) has the G8 GT on their recommend list two years in a row. Also one of the top rated cars in North America for owner satisfaction, 83% of G8 owners would buy another one given the chance (too bad GM screwed that up). Personally I have just 9K on mine and it is about a year old, other than one of the anchors for the driver side floor mat breaking (replaced twice now) no issues.

I had the same problem. They they replaced it with a cool carbon fiber looking piece.

My sunroof glass replacement came in today. Been treated well by the dealer so far, again happy and very little to complain about. Car has no rattles/buzzes under a year of severe "stereo abuse" which has been a welcome surprise. Only nit left to pick is driver seat trim coming loose but I'm not a small guy so I chalk that up to normal use (a replacement would probably just come loose again anyway).

Really like this car... doors close with proper "thunk" and it basically feels like 4k lbs. of steel should. Kudos to our Aussie friends, nicely done. Now SEND US MORE :)
