View Full Version : New Pypes Axle-Back on the G8 (Pics & Vid)

I left work a bit early today and shot down to Pypes to get their new axle-back exhaust installed on the G8. The install took roughly 10 minutes which when you look at what's being done....it shouldn't surprise anyone.

The guys at Pypes were extremely friendly and even helped me get the old mufflers in the trunk with a fresh piece of cardboard so I wouldn't dirty anything up.

On first start-up, the exhaust has a really nice and deep rumble. Off idle and accelerating the sound get more and more pronounced but is never high pitched. The entire axle-back is stainless with a real nice rolled oval tip that fits perfectly and really makes the back end of the car look nice. I liked the stock dual tips but these tips really look great.

Below are a couple pics and I stole Pypes videos from youtube on the prototype setup which is exactly the same as this one. Surprisingly both cars are orange.

I can't wait to get the rest of the exhaust done and hopefully Pypes will continue to put out more products for the G8.

I was a test car for the setup so I got a really nice deal on them. I know they won't do much for power but they have to at least save some weight over the stockers. They have pricing listed on their website.

Pre-order is $239.99. Reg. is $339.99

I have not experienced the Kooks but there is some drone between 1k-1800rpm.

I really want to hear them hooked to my headers. I dont care about drone, cruise in 4th, or floor it and it will go away.

Just got an Email reply today stating that they would not "hit the streets" until late December. Anyone know if they are on the retail market yet?

I will be getting my vid camera back from my buddy prob on Friday and I will take some vids.

Regarding there production status, I was told the same from Pypes. I have their pre-production unit and they told me it should be out in December. These will be fully polished units with double wall tips all in stainless.
