My buddy just got a 2008 Mustang Bullitt

He is going to dyno it for base numbers,
then he is going to Tune/ UDP/ Larger Throttlebody.

The shop he is getting this done is claiming he should see about 36 hp RWHP increase. That sounds like alot for those mods?

I was wondering what you guys thought that race would be like

2009 G8 GT w/ Vararam, Superchips ECM/TCM, Magnaflow Catback

He has driven my car, and said, he don't know if he would win or not, he said my car is a beast (his words)

If he beats me, I will have to get in the mod war with him. I am guessing Headers/ Livernois tune will be next.

I love the 3.73 gears they come with, & the Shaker 1000 stero system is what the G8's should have..... but the rear seat is kinda non existant......

when I first got my car a beat one at the track stock for stock by like .3. The do look good but I just havent too many 3v mustangs that roll out N/A.

You should beat him. had one at track that had exhuast, cold air, and tuned and it was running 13.8. his best was a 13.7. he said his best time so far was a 13.6ish. maybe he needed driver mod though.

To address one of original questions, 36 rwhp does seem a little high, but if the stock tune is conservative and the tuner knows what he'S doing, it's certainly possible. Every motor responds differently.

He installed UDPs and dyno'd again 290/310 tq. (7hp gain/ 9 torque gain)

He attempted to buy handheld tuner from the shop- but they didn't have a handheld tuner that supported the Bullitt edition. (they tried but it didn't work)

We will probably race tomorrow.

Can't go man, me and my buddy (with the Bullitt) are going to Shreveport tomorrow to play some black jack.

The Tune will come with time, I don't need that tune until I do more mods, then i will sell the cortex.. so I won't lose anything on it. (bought it used)

Update: We didn't end up racing, but I did drive his car. I like it alot, but I am fairly certain my car is faster/ quicker.

I drove it for alittle bit before our trip, and I was the DD - 3 hours back to DFW.. So I got a good feel for its power. I would say he would need full bolt ons to beat me, (just a guess)

My torque feels much more than his. But his gearing would make for a good quick little sprint (maybe 0-60)

We didn't race because once I got to DFW - we BS'd a bit, he took his car to fill up, and then I drove it, and when we got back.. It was time to leave for Shreveport.


PS- I left the Casino up 500 bucks!

That cool. Sooner or later you will get the race. ANd even with full bolt ons in his car it will still be a fun race. Plus the more you do the more he has to do also.

I basically have the same mods as you, Vararam, Magnaflow, Tune (Formato) + the addition of a ported TB. Last Thu (2/25) I ran 12.96 @ 106.20 at BMP in Florida (On factory 19's). He won't even come close with his mods. As a tip, when you do race, leave from idle. Should launch real hard, while eliminating any wheelspin. Good Luck!

I've raced my friend in his several times and it's pretty fast. We were neck and neck when I was stock. I think he had a tune at the time. I should say he is a very experienced driver and this was my first time to the track. We were both running right at 14 sec or a shade less. After I got headers, CAI and a tune AND he added a cam to his, we raced again and were again pretty well matched at around 13.2. I think if he had better traction, he would have me. I'm thinking on a cam next!

I run against a Bulit three times and I Killed him you will have no problem wining.
The man was a DIC* to he didn’t want to talk to me, and every time we stage he would look straight ahead and ignore me
