I did the search and read all the post about the Vim and rear Axe input, if I want to get a beck up camera that will automatically turn on when I reveres.

Can I just run the wire somewhere to the radio or do I have to buy some sort of a switch?
Also what kind of camera do you people like?

The plan is to spend $ only on the camera and nothing else

Looks like you need to search some more :) To answer some of your questions, you will need a special cable to connect the rca connection to the radio. However, it will turn off if you go above 3mph without the VIM. I am pretty sure the J* folks are the only ones I have seen that have the autoswitch working. Might be wrong about that though. Otherwise, you just have to press the AUX button on the radio to get it working. That is the cheapest work around if you need to do it on a budget.

Where are you going to mount that? Doesn't have a "friendly" license plate kind of mount.
I went with a wireless camera that has a switch in the receiver so you can run a second video source when your not in reverse.
Boyo VTX420.
It connects nicely onto the license plate frame and I have the receiver mounted in the glove box. I plan on adding a DVD player into the glove box as well for video when I'm not in reverse. Didn't bother with the over-priced (IMHO) VIM mod. I just want a look before I start the backward role, no need for it once I get going. And I can switch the video input to Aux 2 when I want this feature. This camera is $150 but it has the switch in the receiver for that second video source.

This is the one I used:

YOu will still need to build or buy the cables to plug in to the stereo.

Very similar to the one that I used.

How did the install go on that camera?

Seems like the connector on that camera is pretty larger making it difficult to run it into the trunk and onto the cabin without drilling new access holes.
I was able to get my camera cable into one of the existing holes in the truck hood (above the license plate) and "snake" it through the existing trunk hood harness\wiring that gets it into the trunk's lights for power. Being wireless that's as far as I had to go.

I found a guy who's putting Sharp CCD cameras with 150degree widescreen into metal lic plate frame on ebay. Picked one up and the picture is amazing.

The frame:

Here is the car in front of my garage. With the 150degree camera I backed up until I could just see the edges of the garage doors and got out and took a pic so you could see how wide to the sides the camera could see:

The ebay seller is: yanlabonline

Link to auction:

Now I just need to find something black to cover the lic plate bolts. Normal bolt covers wont fit (I have them on the bottom where there are no bolts, gotta get something for the top).

Its was $120 which is about what the Boyo one costs but with a better camera with wider view.

than looks good, i started to play with the rear Aux and that 2 m/h is BS so i think i still will need the VIM.

so i put this project to a side and but 55W HID from DDHtuning becouse paying 150$ for camera and 350$ for VIM is to much for this for that kind of $ i turn around and see whats begind me LOL

That's what I have on mine. Camera/VIM has already paid for itself in avoided accidents!
