The 6L80E requires Mercon VI fluid.

That would be Dexron rather than Mercon, no? Specs are probably the same though.

Same thing. It is a synthetic based fluid. No reason to upgrade.

I've been running Mobil 1 synthetic ATF in my trucks tranny since 36,000 miles. I haven't had one issue with it at all. (knock on wood)

That Dexron 6 is STUPID expensive! DAMN!

just currious, what kind of power steering fluid do G8 GTs take?

I'm pretty sure(98%) it calls for Dex6 for the power steering also.

Check your owners manual.
