I saw this question asked on another board and it got me thinking.

Can a line lock be used on a ABS equipped car? I know I read something years ago about installing it downstream of the ABS unit, but is that the best way to go about it?

Every one I've seen says not to use on abs. Trans brake would be even better but of course non exist for these trans.

Line locks with ABS is perfectly fine. I haven't seen a kit for our cars yet but it's not hard to build your own kit.

They have kits for f-bodies and GTOs. Would it work? Dunno but seems to indicate it can be done.

:poof:I hope someone is doing ,or has done this , because my rear brake pads will be really thankful, they're losing weight on every burnout!

You might want to keep in mind the availability of replacement pads.....

SLP line-lock on my TA w/ ABS. Installed it 3 years ago and it still works fine!

I think I will use a SLP F body kit and remake the lines if nothing comes out soon.

^I was wondering about doing this but wasn't sure about diving into it yet. Are we about to have another GRRRR8 mod??

I have always used the Hurst Line-Loc on ABS cars, the ABS thing may set an "abs fault" light but won't damage the car.

I use the Hurst because the valve is stainless steel, and have had WAY too many of the bronze valved line-loc systems fail on me (and they always seem to fail in the "engaged" position...)

The SLP kit for my Mustang used Hurst as well. It just had all the lines prebent.

I would think that the line lock would be just like being on a dyno?? (as far as the car is concerned) it does not know when the caliper os compressed only when the brake pedel is depressed...

How it works is you hold down the pedal firmly amd press the button, release the pedal and the fronts are locked.

What about the wheel sensors detecting the fronts not turning but the rears spinning?

doesn't seem to freak out too badly during a burnout. Sure, fronts are turning a bit but not nearly as much as rears.

I have never had one turn a light on, but if it did, all you would have to do is cycle the key and drive and it will reset.

Cool, they used to use a complete garbage solenoid that failed just looking at it funny... Glad they updated it.

mine kicked the ABS light on the second dyno run...

Can someone explain the purpose of being able to lock the front brakes?

To do burnouts without wearing out the rear pads.

LOL! You need one to heat up some slicks or drag radials.

Anybody know the thread size of the flare nuts in the master cylinder?

yes, my ABS inop light activated on the dyno as well. No biggie.

I have never had it activate even during extensive burnouts. There should be no difference between that, and line lock.

line locks can be used on ABS cars as long as you turn the traction control off, been useing them for a while on corvettes, camaros, firebirds, and GTOs. no problem
