Got the CAI today so here is my review of it so far.

Item: CAI made by Original Parts Group Australia.

Cost: $210 - $250 (w or W/O filter)

Where to buy: http://tinyurl.com/6okw9z

Delivery Time: 9 days

Finish: Both powder coated in black and Polished Aluminum.

The kit comes with:

2 heavy aluminum pipes.
7 clamps
3 couplers
1 small rubber hose
1 set of instructions.

Install:

The install is very simple and with the instructions anyone should be able to do this in under an hour. Here are a couple of install pics.

This finished install:

Everything in the kit is high quality and should last and work for a long time. The clamps work well but I think I may at some point replace them with black ones.

When you order this kit you can get a filter from them but I went ahead and did not get theirs. Price is $30 less with out the filter. I did use a 4x7 K&N filter PN RU-2590 (cost $40).

Sorry for not getting more pics, my batteries die in the middle of the install.

I have not drive the car yet but I will post an update later today after I do. I will also post more pics at a later date.

Given the price, good looks and quality of the items I would say this CAI is a very good buy.

How far down does it go towards the lower panel?

How far down does it go towards the lower panel?

It looks like it goes as far as the snorkel on the stock air box does. I am going to check it out somemore but I think it will be fine with the LP mod.

I will take some measurement as best as I can and post them.

Ok, from the top of the filter to the LP there is 4" of space.

Just went out for a drive and wow. The sound is great and it makes the car sound like it has a V8. I can feel some added power and I am sure it will be even more with a tune.

Are there anyother brackets that hold the tubing towards or close to the filter. You won't beleive how much these move with the rubber clamps. I must say it looks very well done. good luck

No there are no brackets and really I see no reason to have them. There is no play at all in the set up.

Is the filter touching anything such as the fenderwell or frame?

The lip touches the part of the fenderwell.

Took the car for a long drive today and when I got home I popped the hood to feel how warm the CAI pipe got. The part coming for the TB was only a little warm and much cooler then the stock intake would have been. The other pipe that the filter is on was cold to the touch.

I've got some pics of how this same CAI looks on a Clubsport.

LS2 with the CAI installed -

(BTW - that's a pretty tidy engine bay)

Very nice, how has it held up for you?

I love it. Sound is great. Extra torque and power is noticable. The engine revs more freely. Over all it's a great buy.

Also seen details around that show that these style CAI provide only very marginally less power than an OTRCAI at a massive savings in price, while also maintaining the ability to keep the MAF, which for EPA compliance in Australia is required, in most states at least. (in fact the difference is so negligable as to be irrelevant for 90% of owners)

Can a HSRK be used on something like this? Is the wire long enough to reach the filter?

Don't know for sure. How long are the wires with the HSRK? Even if it is not long enough you can alway extend them. Also you could alway drill a hole in the pipe and put the sensor just above the filter and it would work just as well. I plan to do one someday but not until after winter.

It reached the filter on my New Era intake, so I don't see a problem with this one.

Did you guys notice a change in MPG with this intake? Is a tune needed?

A tune isn't a necessity with a CAI.

Thanks, good info.
A perfect candidate for the world famous GRRRR8 lower panel mod!

One note. When the car is warm and the coolong system is pressurized, look at the clearance between the radiator hose and the clamps. If there is any possibility that the hose could touch, just put some kinda' padding there. :p

That is also what I had to do, I found a old wet vac hose and cut a short lenght and split it up the middle and wrapped it around the upper hose, looks kinda like convoluted
tubing, but you got to protect the upper hose cause mine did touch, thanks.
