All I get are squeaks and rattles in the cold....cold as in anything below 10 degrees. My hood latch will freeze below 10 degrees and won't close. It happened twice in a week. I have to drive it home really slow
(so the hood won't pop up) and park it in the garage for 30 min to thaw. That seems to be the magic amount of time then it will close fine. Damn Australian's and their wonderful warm weather!! I'm going to see if the dealer can order me up another latch or something.

My driver's side door lock apparently freezes when it gets below 20 degrees.

(happened to me Friday and Saturday. But once it warms up, the door lock works normally.)

I live in ND. Our weather here has been less than favorable this year. I would say our cars get squeaky, cranky, but I never complain. Every morning when I hear that nice exhaust, when I hit the remote start, puts a smile on my face. No matter what, we will always find things to work on with this car. Little or sometimes major bugs that need to be worked out. But we have a grrrr8 community here to help us figure out how to fix it.

I'll share a story with you. I was with a client the other day that was taking out a $1500 loan for car repairs. Something along the lines of condensation from the ND weather causing the motor to seize. It was a BMW.

I wanted to add a little humor here:

A G8 hood latch is like a dick, neither one will work if its freezing!

The car is a blast to drive in the snow.... well as long as its under 3 feet of snow, then its not the best but still a blast to drive!

you know.....I read this thread an hour before attempting to do my oil.....attempting is ALMOST all i did! I had to spray the lock down and then heat it up with a heat gun through my mesh grille alternating sides so I dont melt it for about 5 minutes and POP goes the weasel it opened! pain in the ass!

I am assuming that your cars are NOT garaged at night. It gets pretty cold over here, lowest about 10 or so. No issues here yet.

Mine is garaged (detached, not heated) and creaks and rattles especially when the heat first starts to change the temp in the car. Just a fact of life with a car made in a warm climate to be driven in a warm climate. Doesn't bother me too much, as my last car was worse ('00 Intrepid R/T).

I checked my hood the other day when it was ~2°f and had no problem opening or closing it. My biggest problem with he car int he winter months is due to the frost heaves in the roads. The G8 handles these fairly well, but I feel they are really hard on the car's suspension.

My biggest issue is after backing the car into the garage at an angle. This works fine, but when I go to pull the car out, the front wheels seem to lock on the smooth surface and I have zero steering. Pretty scary the first time this occurred, as I almost hit the side of the garage. Once I back up, then give it another go, the wheels begin to rotate, allowing me control of the steering again.

When mine wasn't garaged, my F-in gas lid wouldn't open because it was frozen shut, couldn't get fuel until I pryed it open with a small flat-head I luckily had in my car at the time. Other than that, this car pulls as hard as a crack-whore in the cold.
