View Full Version : What happened to the amp and oil pressure gauges in 09 G8 GT's?

I have an 09 G8 GT, they have deleted the oil pressure and amp gauges evidently, at least that is what the dealer told me and are supposed to change them to analog gauges, my car came with none, there is nothing behind the plate on top of the radio where they used to be. Has anyone else experienced this? It kind of pisses me off that I got stuck without them.

Well, see there? GM does listen to it's customers. Millions of "experts" dissed the Atari guages, so away they went. I like mine just fine, thank you, :p

Yup, that's ridiculous. I was PO'ed when told they weren't there, even the service people looked and were incredulous. They said "There's nothing there" No fuses, nothing. We 09 owners now have a nice little shelf that holds nothing. I like to know my oil pressure and can get used to any kind of gauge and any kind of gauge is better than nothing.
I didn't need the glovebox light last night when i got pulled over, the cops lights were so bright I never even notice it. No ticket so I'm happy.

well they deleted them....added built in XM, said they would have Bluetooth until you read that it says late availability and then they charged us like 1200 more for not much....maybe a little less

Personally I like them missing. I put my glasses in the cubby and my door opener in the cubby below the head unit. If I didn't have XM built in then I would have to have my little FM modulated XM receiver in the cubby below the head unit. So in all I LOVE the way my '09 is setup now.

Cheers

It would have been nice to have analog gauges, but knew from the start my '09 would have nothing. Like was mentioned, don't really miss what you never had!

i got a funny explanation from a sales guy....he said that many drivers thought they were a distraction and that most drivers and SERVICE guys couldnt even understand what the readings meant so GM decided to remove them.

GM could have at least put a hinged cover over the shelf so whatever is in there wont become a missile in an accident.

.......is everything still there. ie a wiring harness, that if we aquired these from an 08
could we just plug n play them?

I want them, and the bezzle if it's not going to be much $$$ out of pocket.

Did you use to hang with Ben Franklin? And is it true he discovered electricity ?

I'm glad my 09 doesnt have them, looks cheap IMO and the shelf is more useful for me. However, if I had them originally and lost them I may miss them??

I'd rather have them than not have any. esp the oil pressure

It would be neat to have something there other than a mostly useless narrow depth pocket that won't hold crap when you launch hard. But my Dashawk tells me everything I need to know! You guys ought to check into one.
