I'm trying to organize a meet on Feburary 13th in Greensboro, NC. Thinking about doing it a Shane's Ribshack again.

Anyone interested in getting together for a lunch or dinner meet?

If it's in the late afternoon or evening, I'll be able to make it. As usual, I've got to work on Saturday.

Hi John,

What time works best for you?

Well I normally get off at 5, but I could always leave early if I needed to. Having the meet anytime after 6 would be best for me, but that's probably not ideal for a meet because it gets dark so early. Let's see if anyone else is interested and see what times they're available.

So far there's not meeting time posted, but I'll try to keep it as late as comfortably possible in the afternoon (which maybe 4:00 PM).

Not to hijack but where is that rib shack located ?? I visit the Greensboro area once or twice a year. I'm always looking for a good place to eat.

When I'm in Tryon NC I eat at Mountain View.

I went in there a couple weeks ago to check it out, and it's a really cool place. I just can't see paying to stay the night there when I live like 5 minutes away. I'll probably do it eventually though if they don't open the park up to the public.

It is alot of fun and it's for a good cause since all the money goes to help out the local community. No suspension stuff ...yet. I have to have a 5 or 6 point harness, so i'm fabricating a harness bar.

Hey on saturday there's a test and tune down at The Rock, if anyone is interested in going to it. I'm going to go to get a baseline time before mods(if I finish the harness bar by then).

And this forum is filled with Stickys and pointless Camaro Forums that no one posts in. Seriously what's the point in having them? Camaros and their owners have their own dedicated sites that get as much traffic on them in 1 hour that this site might see in 1 day.

I still don't see the reason why there had to be a branching off. Why? B/c a few people didn't know how to play nice and get along with each other? It would make more sense, to me at least, to try and keep the G8 community, as small as it is, in one central place than to go and divide it up.

Stickys are there to keep from answering the same question fifty times in a week, as far as the camaro forum... I agree its pointless but it doesn't cost anything to keep it. One reason it branched off was the owners of other sites would ban you or erase your post if you didn't agree with them or ever spoke poorly, however honestly. about their shops or services. If you ever spoke against a vendor, regardless of the reason, you ricked getting censored or kicked. On here, yes there are a lot of strong willed opiniionated people but the majority are doers not talkers. A higher percentage of members here do new things, experiment, or push the boundaries more than the other boards. And thankfully, the majority of the mindless vendor followers who tout the accolades of the vendors (as long as there is a discount or group buy) stay out. I for one am glad Charlie and the guys started this site as opposed to the G8board or G8GT

This is what's killing me right now. GM Parts Driect is basically Flow Chevrolet in Winston Salem. They are the only place locally that has the O2 sensor. The MSRP of the sensor is $101, I can buy it from them as GM Parts Direct for $51 + Shipping + NC Sales tax. However I just got off the phone with them and they want $118 + Sales Tax if I walk in and get it.

They define the word "Stealership"

I was going to buy an extra O2 sensor, but never got around to it. When I bought the headers I went ahead and got new gaskets (or at least I ordered two) and new fancy locking bolts. New gaskets aren't that expensive, so I said "Why Not".

You'd think with all the stealership in the area at least one would have that O2 sonsor in Greensboro.

As Jerry mentioned, I've also read that the Kooks gaskets are crap. They'll last a little while, but after a year or so they'll start leaking. You may want to use the stock ones to save you any future trouble.

I got them from Maryland Speed. I went by Flow Chevrolet in W-S yesterday afternoon adn got the O2 sensor and gasket. They back off the prices quoted over the phone to MSRP. I asked them about ordering online at Gm Parts Direct and pciking up locally and the guy really didn't want to answer my question. I told me they are a different department and I'd have to talk to them.

This project is finished for the most part. I still need to work a bit on the Wideband setup and there's a small exhaust leak where the header connect to the catted pieces. Sounds much deeper now and I can tell it really needs to be tuned because there's some hesitation on acceleration.

Well, the car did crank up and I can drive it around, so it’s a success in my book. I did 95% of the work myself and had to listen to several people pick fun at me while dropping almost every bolt I had in my hands (BTW, bolts roll to the dead center of my car). I put on the passenger side gasket backwards and also had to listen to “It says right on the gasket how it’s oriented”. Oh and the “I can’t believe your doing that to your new car” and the “Kiss your warranty goodbye” comments. Blah, blah, blah…..

The weather is freaking cold up here and the wind is blowing, so if your in a much better climate then FU! lol

The MSRP of the sensor is $101, I can buy it from them as GM Parts Direct for $51 + Shipping + NC Sales tax. However I just got off the phone with them and they want $118 + Sales Tax if I walk in and get it.

They define the word "Stealership"

Seems like all the dealerships in this area are crooks. I tried to buy a fender for my '02 Camaro from GM parts direct and they wanted $85.00 to ship it 15 miles and wouldn't let me come pick it up. I mean it's a 5lb plastic fender not a 40lb steel fender. Their price for the part was the best but the shipping made it more expensive than the other dealers. A dealership in PA only wanted $35.00 to ship it 400 miles. The dealers around here suck, that's why I ended up buying my G8 in Wilmington, it saved me thousands.

Aden, Just wanted to let you know that the front driver's side o2 sensor did seize up me me yesterday.

Hey Eric did you try to heat everything up with a torch? Sometimes things will come loose with heat and penetrating oil. I'll be doing headers soon and want to know if heating the sensors will help get them out.

Hindsight being 20/20 a torch would have really helped. I didn't even think about it when I was taking them out. All is well, just doing the bi-daily re-torques and starting the tuning process. Once the hardware was completed, the tuning is really fun!

the torch doesn't work well in these cases. Its almost like they strip or bind the threads when they are assembled at the factory. safest bet when doing headers is to go a ahead and buy a pair of o2s

Definitely not on the front ones. On the rears it isn't that bad considering most tuners will turn them off anyway

The weather forecast looks pretty good for this weekend. If Piedmont Dragway posts any test and tunes then I'm going. Need to get some track time to nail down the WOT tune.

Brandon, you want to come out and play???

I checked their website and they only have last weekends Test and Tunes listed.
I don't have any plans this weekend, so if run T&T both days I can do either day.

Sure, the more the merrier! I really like Farmington, it's normally not as crowded as Piedmont and you can get more runs in. Also you can't watch the cars go down the track while waiting at Piedmont, where as Farmington you can see the runs.

Okay Kevin, just let me know. I may do a double showing this weekend. Piedmont hasn't updated their website with anything for this weekend, but I'd expect at least T&T on Sunday. So maybe Saturday I'll do Farmington for some fuel tuning runs and Piedmont will be the ignition timing runs.

Well Eric, kid has ball practice at 9:30 sat morning. I could get there by 1:00 but they're only running til 4:00 so it may not be worth it. Plus it's got to be 45 degrees. Let me know what you think. Where is piedmont dragway? I may be able to do sunday, so let me know if they're running. I've always heard about it but never been there.

That's cool. Maybe we'll do it Sunday at Piedmont Dragway.

Here's the website and at the bottom there's directions.

I'm not sure the weather's going to be any warmer Sunday, so we'll have to see about that as well.

Eric, I've developed strep throat and I feel like crap. I REALLY want to go but I doubt I will this weekend. The next 2 to 3 weekends I'll be putting the supercharger on and then working out the bugs for the tune. After that we can go.

Sorry to hear your feeling bad Brandon, hope you get better soon. I'm sure I'll be going plenty of others times this year. Of course that's contingent on whether the $4K I dump in this car since the last time I went doesn't net me any gains, then it's suicide watch time.:bm:

Eric,

Your high pressure sales tactics have guilted me into going. As long as I don't feel dramatically worse I'm shooting for being there a little after noon. I don't have a helmet or drag radials so there's no telling how many runs I'll get in.

esinger

They don't require a helmet unless you run really quick times. I think it's somewhere in the low 7's.

Hi Eric and Brandon,

I've been a long-time lurker on this forum and have run my G8 once at Piedmont back in October 2009. Seeing that there will be other fellow G8 owners there has got me fired up to go out again. Mind if I join you guys? I have a 2008 Liquid Red G8 GT. It'll give my boys a chance to enjoy a little racing (they loved it last time), and it will give my wife some quiet time to work on a project for her job that is near the finish line. I live in Morrisville; so, I'm not too far away. I plan on arriving around 1230-1 PM. Look forward to meeting you guys.

Nope, no mustang kills. It was kind of light in the vehicle count today. I only made 4 passes but probably could have made double that amount if I wanted to.

I had my G8 retuned by Jeff at Carolina Auto Masters. It made 330 HP / 343 torque with RotoFab intake and SLP PowerFlo Axle backs. Very happy with the tune, much better than before, I also had him turn off the AFM. Going to get the Kooks LT 1 7/8 Headers with Corsa Exhaust next. Can't wait.

Also his transmission tune is the best I have seen. The car drives a lot smoother than before. Sometimes you can't feel the shifts, its that smooth.

Service Manager at Hendrick of Cary said you should feel lucky that you're G8 runs so smooth compared to other G8s on the road. lol

Eric, I am getting Aden's old Corsa exhaust setup with the connecting piece for the Kooks headers because he is going for something different with the turbo setup. Carolina Auto Masters, I think charges $400 for the tune and $50 for the transmission tune which is worth the money.

The car feels and drives completely different after the tune.

The transmission tune is a modified tune off the new Camaro.

Yeah, the stock transmission tune is a real issue with this car. 50 bucks isn't bad at all for a tranny tune.

I just installed my Corsa with my Kooks and I love it as well, this is my 5th Corsa system so that should tell you what I think of them. Jeff @ CAM tuned my 1996 Camaro SS and did a great job, hopefully I can get back up that way and get the G8 tuned as well.
