I'm trying to decide whether or not to get the 2300. I plan to do the blower and some minor bolt ons.(Headers, CAI, etc) Down the road a small blower cam maybe in the cards. On a vendors site it says that the 2300 cant be used on a stock motor which I thought was odd. So can you guys give me your opinions either way and why. Thanks

Tom

It depends, first GXP or GT ?, second what is your goal with the car.

GT. I'd like to crack into the 11s without going crazy.

I'd have to say, I think a 1900 with a 3"-2.9" pulley plus a free exhaust, and DRs you would definitely be in the 11s. The 2300 mainly gives you more headroom to expand in the future - so you crack the 11s, what about 10s etc. If you will not do this then you do not need the 2300.

If I could get an 11.90 or so out of the car Id be very happy. Will the fuel pump be able to handle a 2.9 inch pulley or will I run out of fuel?

Some people are using a Magnavolt or KB Boost-a-Pump without any problems. But it might not be needed. I'm on the stock system right now with no problems.

I was just going to do a cold air also........ its kind of like a boulder going downhill.... it is hard to stop..... If you can stop once you get into the 11's, you will be a better man than me....

I'm running nothing now at all. Stock pump. How much you make?

After researching the same question, here is what I found
1) the TVS-2300 will ultimately make more power tham the 1900
2) The 2300 requires the removal of the hood liner, the 1900 does not
3) Maganacharger offers a 3 year PT warranty for the G8 with the 1900

I chose the 1900 due to it's ability to provide all the HP I will need; I am not out to build an all out RC.

Also, I wanted to keep the hood liner.

I did not purchase the PT warranty.

are you asking how much i make? I was simply stating that maybe the kb bap isn't as good as the magnavolt......I would have at least tried the magnavolt since your on your 5th pump:uhm:

No, I know, I was thinking about it, but it's between that and a higher capacity pump, Then I will find the useful limit of the 1900 for my combo. I have until spring to get my act together.

Very well put. I also believe if you do not use the tuner that comes with the 1900, and you have someone else do the tune, you can not get a power train warranty just one for the blower.

That depends, I believe you still get the warranty if it is installed and tuned by an approved installer. At least I thought so.

The only thing I know about cams is that you should minimize overlap with a blower. You might do better with a custom spec.

When do plan on getting your car back from New Era Norm?

norm8332
01-22-2010, 09:01 AM
I have it now (mostly parked). It's a blast, but I have to get the tires on (myself). And the exhaust is way to loud (asking for a ticket past 1/2 throttle). That must and will be fixed! I'm trying to keep it looking stock and the sound is over the top right now for it's appearance.

I was hoping to see it driving down 104 (if you went that way) oh well, we'll have to meet up so I can check it out.

Sounds like a plan, I'm going to have everything finished by spring, then I'm heading to NYIRP to get some numbers for my combo. I'm driving an 08 Impala for the winter. I must say I have a new found respect for VVT in a NA engine now.

Norm why is yours so loud? Mine is barely audible. One of the other members on here, Sriram, took mine out yesterday with Jeff and even he said he couldn't believe how quiet it was

norm8332

I blew the cheap cats that came with the SLP so for now I have show cats. Internal physical failure - not melted. The whole internal honeycomb slid back and restricted the flow. I don't want to re-install that junk.

Ktlplxm
01-23-2010, 09:14 AM
Gotcha. yeah the cats help quieten them down a good bit, and if its a good cat they don't cost that much power. I have 3" cats on mine with 2.5 inlets and outlets. Unbolting the entire exhaust only nets an additional 5-10 hp

norm8332
01-23-2010, 09:20 AM
I would like them back, the smell is another issue. But I don't want the ones SLP uses.

Where am I going to find a cat that fits on the headers like this?

Call Kooks when they open. They may have some like that or know where to get them. George R is great to work with

norm8332

I think I'll just get a set of Kooks 1 7/8s and the catted Corsa adapter. What do you think about that with my combo? I think it will work, I wasn't sure the 1 7/8 really mattered since I seem to have OK #s with the 1 3/4. Do you think it'll pick up or loose?

:threadjacked:

Ktlplxm

It should pick up a little bit, but not much. If it picked up more than a few hp I would be suspicious (of course someone may point out how paranoid I am about dynos). The 1 7/8's definitely wouldn't hurt at you hp level, and if you're going to buy new ones, it would be crazy not to.

1 7/8 is better, make sure you get long tubes.
