I was going to order the mini spare tire from a G8 V6 car and the gm parts house said it wasn't a good idea to do so :

"That item is $59.08. I personally wouldn't want to use a 17" spare on a 18" or 19" wheel, but that is strictly up to you. That is bad news for the internal gearing.

Thanks, Gene."

Any thoughts on this.

It doesn't matter what size the wheel is as long as the diameter is close to stock, and as long as it clears your brakes. If you are worried about it just put the spare on the front only.

Buy you a cheap after market wheel for 100 bucks and go to a tire shop and buy a used 245-45-18 or something within 1 in height difference and if you are worried just move front to rear and put the spare on the front in case of a flat. Just what Greg said.
Thats what I plan to do.

Why would they put them in the V-6's
if they weren't O.K. to use??

Smaller brakes on the V6.
