These results are better than I was expecting. :woohoo:

Mike at New Era Performance did an excellent job specing out a custom cam specifically for the Magnacharger in the G8. New Era also installed a dod delete kit. The valves were done too while the heads were off.

The fuel system is now completely back to stock with no BAP.
I have a 3.2" pulley on because of the fuel limits.
It is barely hitting 6PSI and I still have all the other smaller sizes available to me here, so up it goes with the new fuel pump.

With that same pulley before it was at around 7psi, but It took 9-10 PSI for me to make these #s before the cam. 600rwhp is a fuel pump and a pulley away now.:woohoo:

And this is NOT going to be a dyno queen. I'm going directly to the track this spring.

Good numbers Norm! How does your fuel look with the stock pump? Is it close to the edge?

Well dammit! I think I qualify as a dyno queen right now since I didn't make it to the track any this past year. I will make it this spring.

Yeah, this winters upgrades include the fuel pump,3.0-2.9 inch pulley,DRs, retune.

HMMMM. All this trailer queen talk.. had mine 6 months it has 17,000 miles on it, has been on the dyno and the drag strip already.. does that classify my car as a plow mule?

YA MULE, YA YA

Norm are you still running a stock stall??

Yeah, it's stock for now, it stalls at around 2800 for some reason with the maggie. I was going to replace it when it broke, or if it turns out to be an big et drainer.

I plan to have nearly 600rwhp and DRs or slicks by spring, so we'll see what happens.

This was done with the stock fuel pump, reving to 6700 rpms without a fuel supply issue for those that don't know. This camshaft is now available as one of our DOD delete cam kits on our website.

Nice work Mike. Did you build him a short block or just cam/heads.

Mike@NewEra
01-09-2010, 04:39 PM
The heads are stock, we just did a valve job to rule out any valve seat damage, because there was a valve float issue which is why we had the car to begin with. The heads still have the stock valves and the ports are untouched, stock compression. It was just a DOD delete cam swap, some exhaust modification, and a tune, using less boost than he was running previously.

Cool. It makes some great #s for low boost.

Thanks, tell me about it, I was real happy with how much power this car made with such a mild camshaft and 6 psi!

I picked up the car today and it runs great! Man, I missed driving it big time. Thanks mike for the great job you and your guys did with it. It came out great!

I'm still thinking about pulling off the corsa and using a gxp mid (if I can find someone that will ship one to me) and the stock muffs. It's pretty loud right now. Or going whole hog and pulling everything and going with an ARH LT system+stock muffs like I should have in the first place.

I'm shipping out a stock fuel pump to be rebuilt Monday. I should be able to install it myself because of my Quick-Access panel.

Then UP the BOOST goes!!

Plus a little extra edge:secret:

I think you'll like a Kooks or ARH system with stock mufflers. No drone and real quiet in the car until you go wot.

This is true! I have ARH 1 7/8" with their catted x-pipe and a set of GT mufflers. The GXP mufflers were too loud for me.

Did I miss this or did you have the cam before the supercharger install? or did you have it all done at once>? if you had the cam before, what were the numbers then.... cause I am thinking about doing a supercharger and not sure on how much it will gain me on my setup?? just wondering....

norm8332
01-29-2010, 05:06 AM
It was at or slightly above 500 rwhp @ 9.5-10 psi with the just maggie (2.9" pulley) and exhaust, BAP. I had the cam installed and turned the boost down to 6.0 psi (3.2"pulley) until I finish the fuel pump upgrades, then I will attempt higher boost.

Still winter here ;). Makes it a little tough for me to work on it. I'm shooting for spring to have everything completed.

The pieces are slowly coming together. Programming will resume after the regularly scheduled annual natural disaster is completed.:windy:

I'm putting on 60# injectors (back on), magnavolt, MSD window switch and a smaller pulley this weekend. Then I'll at least make it to the 1/8th that's within an hour hopefully next week.

updates? how many miles on that cam and how does it idle compaired to stock?

norm8332
10-29-2010, 01:21 AM
5K since the cam and also installed a smaller supercharger pulley, no issues. It idles good, set for only 650 rpms. But the idle isn't smooth like stock. If you like a stock smooth idle, you have to go very mild on the cam or don't change it at all.
