Its going to be high in the 30's low in the 20's on friday here in Houston. Is that too cold? Im thinking traction here. Would it not be worth it if its that cold? I have stock wheels and tires. Im sure the DA is going to be like -1000 or something so will that offset the traction?

im fairly sure that HRP wont open unless it hits 50 at some point in the day.

I have raced at about 35 degrees but they would not let anyone running DR or slicks on the track for the forst few hours (until it warmed up a bit)

I personally would race in 5 degrees as long as the track is dry and clear of ice im ready! May have less traction but the extra HP will make up for it!

DA right now at HRP is -1865.

Yea, if they are open, I will be there. It just doesn't get any better. I am concerned about traction.

Here is an interesting thread I posted in ls1gto.com about racing my goat. It's a good read, especially the post by FraggerCrue. As you can see, I had the same thoughts a couple of years ago.

Yeah im worried about traction too.... but If I can get it to hook should be a PB with that DA. Which way does HRP run? I.e. if thers a northwind will it be headwind or tailwind or sidewind?

HRP runs south to north.

If I show up, the car most likely won't be freshly washed. I don't know if any car washes will be open tomorrow, and I sure as hell will not find a car wash and wash the car in 19 degree wind chill.

wunderground.com states north winds, daytime from 10-15 mph, nighttime 5-10 mph. This is for Beach City, Texas.

DA at 6:53 pm tonight is -1980.

Without drag radials, getting a good launch will be a problem.

Here is a quote from FraggerCrue on the linked thread.

************************************************** ***************************
"It is very likely not the condition of the track.

You had in the neighborhood of -1600 DA at Houston Sunday. You effectively had Forced Induction, thanks to good ole Mother Nature.

I would guess the real problem wasn't a slick track, but your car making that much more power than you are accustomed to. If you are lucky enough to have more than adequate traction for a normal night, of if you are simply that damn good a driver and adjust your launch technique to accomodate the increased power, you can run some good times on a night like that.

I don't know about Houston, but when we start getting negative DA here, cars start breaking. Put a little oil, tranny fluid, or whatever on the track and traction goes away anyway. A good track does their best to clean it up then sweeps the track and, hopefully, sprays some VHT for good measure."
