Did anyone else get a full year of maintenance for free in the mail? It includes oil, tire rotations, and 27 point check 4 times good until dec 2010. Pretty cool because an oil change cost almost 80 dollars in oil!

Nice! I bet they do not use synthetic though. But that's ok I'm every 3 months or 3k so 4 free ones with conventional wont do any harm.

Yes, I got mine yesterday and used it today. That covered $86 bucks worth of service.

Yes, they do use synthetic so no GM is not being a cheapskate, they have to use what they recommend. This benny thrown our way is to entice us to remain with GM even they scalped Pontiac as one of the GM brands. No worries from me as I always buy a GM product (even though I was sorely tempted by the Dodge Challenger and Charger when they first came out).

Take advantage of it, the way I look at it, it's about $400 in owner loyalty cash. I don't know of anyone giving out free cash other than the government with its bailouts. Will this work to keep everyone in the GM fold? No of course not, but if it causes you to walk around the showroom and look at their product, who knows maybe you will want something else new from them or something used off the dealer lot. That's all GM wants out of this deal.

It says in the paperwork we got on the program to use whatever oil is used in the factory fill.

Ok, so a lot of people are asking the same question with no definitive answer yet: Do they actually use Mobil 1?

According to the paperwork the dealers got, they have to use the factory fill. Does anyone know if the factory fill was Mobil 1?

Anybody? Anybody? Beuller?

BlackGT5
01-06-2010, 12:38 PM
If they use "factory filled" oil, it will be Mobil 1 on the GXP only. The V6's and GT's did not come with synthetic from the factory.

A member on another board requested synthetic oil, and the dealer said they can only use conventional oil. So the member called the GM rep and the rep told the dealer to give the customer whatever oil they want at no charge. So if the dealer refuses to use synthetic oil just have them call the local GM rep.

I had the service done to my GXP todayand what the dealer told me was they put the type of oil that was on the cap on the engine. So if I had a GT I would be putting the Mobil 1 cap from the GXP on my car. The owners manaul does not specifically say that the LS3 uses Mobil1. I made sure this is what went back in my car.

DRCUSTOMPARTS
01-06-2010, 06:02 PM
I have a custom aluminum oil cap that says L76 on it, so I have no intentions of swapping to a plastic GXP cap. I'll just call the rep like the other member did if they refuse to put synthetic in my GT.

There are a few reasons why I'll not be taking advantage of this offer.

1. I've got too many mods and I'd be red flagged for sure around here.
2. They won't use synthetic oil
3. The dealership won't touch my car unless absolutely necessary.

DRCUSTOMPARTS

You can always give your coupon to someone that doesn't get one. I would imagine if someone didn't buy their car at a GM dealer they won't get one.

Is it VIN or owner specific?

DRCUSTOMPARTS

It's just a generic coupon that can be used at any GM dealer for any GM car.

with the GXP they HAVE to use synthetic. See if you can just use the coupon and take the oil and filter for free... then the dealer doesnt have to pay a tech to do the work.

I will do that if they balk, but my luck with my dealer has been great. Even with the LCA ball join issues, they got the car fixed fast and gave me a loaner to use every time. As is I get charged 79.99 for the Mobil 1 change which is not a bad deal when you consider even at mart, the Oil alone is like close to 50 bucks, add in 7 or so for the filer and net is I pay 20 bucks for some one to deal with it. Plus they do the Ball Joint check and Tranny fluid check every time.

The Hendrick Pontiac GMC dealership yesterday did take this certificate and they did put Mobile 1 in my car. I also asked what told them to use Mobile1 and I was told what was on your cap is what they used. I also watched them put Mobile1 in and the wo also states Mobile1. So if you have a GXP they will put Mobil1 in your car. I did not pay nothing too.

Once again i'm too lazy to read all the posts, but anyways when we purchased our G8 they offered 1 year maintanence for free or they said if we didnt want that they would knock off a thousand bucks from the sticker price. We took the grand off because I maintain my own vehicles at my shop, plus I don't want anybody touching this car but me,or at least I wanna be standing there watching someone else work on my ride.

No. You guys don't read too much, do you? There is nothing from GM saying that the GTs came factory filled with synthetic oil. They require natural oil.... so unless your dealership is in the spirit of giving away money, you should get natural.

Has anyone used theirs yet?

I went today and told them to make sure that they put Mobil 1 in her because thats what she had already. So he wrote down Mobil 1 in the sign in paperwork and just said, no problem, thats what these V8's take.

After the car came out of the shop I asked the guy that did the service what oil he used and he said, Mobil 1.

Got mine a few weeks back, the 4 free oil changes. Took it in today and asked them about mobil 1 and they said no problem didn't cost me a cent. The sevice man told me they are writting it off as warranty work so that's why the dealers are not losing the money. Really good people at my dealer plus there was 2 other g8's doing the same thing so got to shot the breeze with some other g8er's. Cool day!

Hi WickedMom,

Thanks for supplying this great info. to us all here on the website. Unfortunately, the "General" seems not to wander too far North lately as I have not received anything from him yet relating to this offer. I'm thinking it may not apply to Canada. I'll have to check with my dealership to see what's up.

:Canada:
