Are these different names for the same thing? These are names for the 8-4 cylinder cruise mode I assume?
Displacement on Demand and Automatic Fuel Management, correct?

Active Fuel Management (formerly known as Displacement on Demand) is a trademarked name for the automobile variable displacement technology from General Motors.

AFM, it's what's for dinner! I'm keeping it.

I am going to run my exhaust without a tune for a bit just to see how annoying AFM is and if it's really annoying I will cut it loose...:o

Its not too annoying. I went with a quieter exhaust so the drone is almost unnoticeable. Almost.

I just want it like a normal hot rod and quieter valve train.

Yeah I'm going to keep it also, love the gas mileage I can get. On the other hand does anyone know the difference between AFM and no AFM? It would be nice to not have it.

AFM turning on and off. Is this supposed to be a performance car or what ??

I own a performance car, and am willing to put it up against any non-cammed G8. I still get 29 mpg too!

I run mine in the manual mode almost all the time, amf turning on and off. Didn't really notice that much til I changed the mufflers.
