I went to Island Dragway in Great Meadows, NJ for a Street Legal Night. I met up with Blackdevil77 there.

When I got there, I went to tech and then pretty much went righht out for a run. I had just driven about an hour and a half, so the car was quite warm. 207 degrees according to the DashHawk.

Here's what I got, 13.747

35lbs of air in the rear tires and a hot car do not give you a fast time. The car went sideways upon launch. 2200-2300rpm and roll into the throttle didn't help, it walked sideways through 1st gear with me pedaling all the way. I left it in D and it shifted into 4th just before the MPH cone.

I let the car sit for an hour while I got something to eat. It had cooled to 170, so I went for another run.

13.074, still no traction, 34 to 35lbs in the rears. Left in D, 187 degrees in the staged beams. Again, 2000rpm and roll into the throttle. It short shifted into 2nd because I was pedaling. Then it hit the limiter HARD on the 2-3 shift.

Then at 80, I pushed the shifter over into Sport and pulled back on the lever. The car has hit 110 before the limiter cuts in, not tonight, It went up against the limiter well before the MPH cones. I'd say 1225 to 1250ft.

It was right after this that Blackdevil showed up. We shot the shit and then he went for a pass, I'll let him tell his own story.

After that, I bullshitted with GRRRR8 on the cell for a while, I regaled him of my 1/4 prowess, nah, I mostly bitched about the lack of traction. The car cooled down and I waited to make one last pass.

Blackdevil77 and I decided to get in the "grudge" lanes and run side-by-side.

My car had cooled to below 145, by the time I staged it was 171 on the DH. I had reduced the rear tires to 30lbs. It didn't help.

13.160

Again it short shifted 1-2. Again, it hit the limiter on the 2-3. Again I tried the 3rd gear trick, it's just not going to work with the rev limiter at 6200.

What I have learned.

I learned it is useless to go to the strip with approx 350-360 RWHP, a high stall converter and no drag radials. I've also learned to stay away from Street Legal Night. There was LESS traction than out on the road.

I have faith this car will be deep into the 12s when I put drag radials on it and replace the MAF (Chris @ Vector is confident my rev limiter problems and lazy shifting are due to my removal of the MAF screen). The new MAF will be here on Wednesday. Drag radials, well soon.

Nice times George! I'm wondering if by you having the Underdrive Pulley makes the difference in your quicker times.

I had a couple 1.9 60' times, but still had a slower 1/4 mile time. How in the hell is that possible!!? Is my car a turd? I hold 3rd gear, and the best I can get is a 13.17

What the F man!?

*sigh*

I would have paid decently for a 1.90 60ft.

I think the UD Pulley makes the car go into the rev limiter even harder. It allows the car to rev quicker.

What were your temps when you were running?

I don't think your times are that far off George. Drag radials will help for sure, (should have mine next week), and how the track is prepped is definately key. When I was at Norwalk last weekend they were running the pro street bikes in with the Test and Tune, and the track wasn't prepped well at all. My one and only pass, (to damn busy took 2 hrs for first pass), was 13.01 @ 114.7, with a 2.24 60' time. It's a real bummer turning the trap speeds I am, an not running a quicker time.

I totally agree with this. I also feel that a ported intake and TB have the same effect. Combine the 2 and you end up with what I have.

Good runs George for no traction. DRs and some fine tuning on the rev limiter will be deep in the 12s.

An interesting PS for the Dodge fans out there.

The 13.07 run, run number 2 was against an SRT10 Pick-Up.

.

That 13.57 is me! :D Not bad for just a CAI and a tune for my first time at the track i think.

George & Wreck: Yep, you guys are totally right. With an underdrive pulley, ported TB, & ported Intake Manifold, I should be in the high 12's consistantly. :woohoo:

I like running on street tires, because it's a great representation of what my car can do on the street / at the stop lights! :nutkick:

Blackdevil77: Nice 13.57 time! With the same mods I could only get a best of 13.7, so I believe that the cooler night temps out there and being closer to sea level can attribute to your faster times.

What time was the racing done? And Outside temp?

The racing was done from 630 to 1030 pm. My 13.57 was done at around 10 pm. Not only that, but I'm not even tuned for the CAI! I just had the 93 octane ECM/TCM tune from Kaltech in there and just slapped on the intake a week before the track. I'm happy with my car. My friends are recommending Micky tires for more traction. Don't remember the exact one's, ill try to find out.
