it is more than a tick. loudest at the front/lower part of the engine. others have reported a similur knock and the dealer swaped out the oil pump.

can't be too serious, it has been doing it for a long time and i have made many 500+rwhp runs with it on the street and dyno. no louder or quieter.

I'm having the converter re-stalled to 3600 and hope to get the 3.70s sorted out this winter.

I might hold off on the cam/heads till after the tracks reopen...

Why wouldn't you touch the heads? Doesn't make sense not too as there are proven gains doing so. If you don't now then your only going to wish you did after its done and it will cost you more the second time around.

Heads done/cam done/converter going in a hsw plate kit on the 125pill/trying for 11.60 on motor and 10.80 on spray or less..we will see who wins this cammed g8 challenge as many people will run 11 secs passes but not be consistant 11s that's my goal I want 11 70z or less every pass I try ..then your doing something and Im not trying get it with good DA I'm looking for any weather..

All your records will go down..PROMISE!!!

You don't really want to port the heads, they don't need much, good valves and a valve job wiul suffice for the range you're aiming at

10.72 is the last I heard from Intenses TT G8.
I think I can hit that with a 100-125 shot with my combo.

Wont need to measure displacement. Hopefully now that I am back to being a tech cubic inches wont even matter. I want to compete with you, parish and Intense. A 434 and twins would do the trick. :)

I will say these few things to help enlighten you:

1. I dont care. By no means is this the fastest car I have owned.
2. When people list mods that others have that they dont, it is usually followed by excuses.
3. Run what you brung and hope you bring enough.
4. I stopped adding to my sig and garage weeks ago, yet there are a lot of boxes sitting here. :)

the fox is going to be a top contender for quickest stock ls longblock. it isn't my car but i am helping with the turbo stuff.

stock 6.0 other than 02 ls6 cam and good springs, pt88, pump gas/meth duel fuel, power glide with a "pro" brake, mini tub with 325 dr's, 9" with a spool.

Well if we're just comparing NA HP and money actually spent, I still have both of ya lol. At the end of the day it just comes down to who is the fastest, not how you got there. Proclaiming "stock block, stock cubes" is like setting up an excuse in case of loss, ie "He beat me, but I have a stock bottom end/stock cubes" lol

For those of you thinking you will be in the top 5 you had better be planning on running AT LEAST 650-700+rwhp and have some seat time at the track hitting SOLID middle to high 10 second ET's at a minimum because there are more than a few of us TT guys who have big plans. I already have the cam/dod delete and meth injection sitting in my garage along with a few Walbro GSS340's hanging around too; in addition to the TT's it already has. It will also most likely have a built bottom end (NOT stock cubes) and transmission in later summer or early fall too. Some of you would be very mistaken to forget about my little stryker blue car. Consider yourselves lucky that I am being deployed to Afghanistan for 6 months otherwise this would all be dropping in MUCH more soon. :devil:

I don't plan on it. I plan to keep my G8 as just a decently fast street car that see's occasional track use when not banned for running too fast. If anything in my garage is getting a cage next it will be the Exploder.

My car recently crossed the scales at 3695... and it still looks stock. About another 50lbs have come out since then and plenty more to lose before race season, goal is 3700 with me in it.

Figure about $1,000 on the heads for valve, mill, port, etc...

Our general rules around here are:

Whoever gets called out gets to call the race...

If you leave its a race whether it be arm drop, 3 honk, stoplight, etc..

Race must be at least 100 MPH, run what ya brung 0-100, 50-150, etc..

No excuses... if your nitrous didnt work, if your engine blew, if your fried your clutch too bad you lost try again next week.



For those of you thinking you will be in the top 5 you had better be planning on running AT LEAST 650-700+rwhp and have some seat time at the track hitting SOLID middle to high 10 second ET's at a minimum because there are more than a few of us TT guys who have big plans.

I dont think it will take 650 to get a lightweight car into the 10's, more like 550 with traction and the right gearing.

Yep, unless you plan to pad the ever loving shit out of the bars or wear a helmet all the time doing the cage pretty much kills it for the car being a daily driver while remaining safe.

I was being nice saying just high 10's for starters. Pulling high 10's is just where the "fast g8" crowd will likely begin. The top 5 will probably be significantly faster than that.

With that said I do agree that if someone does put their G8 on a major diet then they can see 10's with less power. We will just have to wait and see how much of a diet some of you guys put your cars on.

haha I meant the normal stock block guys. He said he wasn't touching the heads so I thought for sure he wasn't changing the short block.

I've heard rumors of a few G8's getting bigger cubes.. besides you I haven't seen any of them on here.

the tracks dont really look at the roll bar, just look to see if it has one. if i ever put one in there it will be back just far enough i would never be able to bang my head on it.

there would be a stub by the drivers feet where the door bar hooks. other than that i dont think there would be much to ruin the car. the back seat is another story. for me to be fast i need to make a lot of runs. sorting out the tranny is going to take some runs and doing that on the street doesn't seem like a good idea.

i am sure i can get by with high 10's but any faster than that and the tracks will get pissy.

Whether the track actually inspects the rollbar or not all depends on the track itself and who is teching that day. Sometimes they don't even bother to look while other times you get the full white glove treatment.

i have been to about 20 tracks. always with a less than perfect roll bar.(door bars too low, hoop to high/far back). not one track even glanced at the roll bar.

always stuff like dates on the belt, battery shut off.
