As the 1 year anniversary of the death of our '08 G8 GT gets close, I think of the many wrecked G8's we've seen lately.

Has anyone kept count? At the current rate of attrition, one wonders how much longer till total extinction of the species will occur. :(

You meant that THAT was car number 748 not number of G8's totaled=748...

I watch the G8 on at the auto action and there is about 10+ a month being sold that are wrecked :( probably 70 percent are the V8 :(

I would have to say in the last year there has been an easy 100 G8's for sale. Currently there are 15 in the US for sale! (2 stryker Blues) for some reason it is a popular color to total ??

I wonder why?

Probably because there are a lot of young people that can talk their parents into buying them one!

I could see my mom... ow how nice its a Pontiac 4 door, assuming it was a front wheel drive 4cyl (if she even could make that guess)

I wouldn't just say kids are to blame. It is a lot of car and easy to lose control of if you take the TC off. I had it off one day when it started to sprinkle and came inches from wrapping my car around a telephone pole.

That could be BLAKE09GXP's car that got totalled out from insurance. Not sure, but it sure looks similar. He's driving a 2010 camaro now as it's replacement. He's on the other board where he posted a thread on how it all happened as it was happening. Such a shame.

But water flooded cars are never the same.... ever!

Stryker Blue must be an invisible color to some people. I can't tell you how many people cut in front of me or pull out in front of me and I have to hit the brakes.

You'd think they could see a big ass blue car!

actually about 90 percent of the crashed ones are all front end damage. Yet to see on with only side or rear damage. IMO we will see insurance go up on these cars...

I work for LKQ corp (out of Chicago) here in Massachsetts and I am constantly looking up G8's in our system that have been wrecked and there isn't that many. I wish one would come in so I could maybe get a second set of wheels or something.:secret:

From what I have seen here on the forum, most G8s are being hit by other drivers. And the accidents are not caused by the G8 owners themselves. Therefore, I do not see why insurance rates for these cars would increase.

Well of the 17 cars there now, 13 are front end collisions... 2 are water damage and 2 are Fire. So Actually there is not a single car on there that someone else hit (unless they where a head on accident)

Yep

A orange (V6) one that looks like it met a guard rail (right front)

and a Black V6 that apears to have hit a wall :(

Strange that they are both V6 cars....

Most if not all the accidents posted by members of this forum and the other one were hit by other people. Interested to know what caused the fire on the ones damaged and/or destroyed.

Hehehe ... from what I remember, it's pronounced like "Greenvool".... all of 'em are, actually. Moorsvool, statesvool, etc.

I was schooled by the "locals" several times when I pronounced it the way it sounded, at least for a "yank" like myself. lol

Yeah, we work hard for the trailers we live in! So don't be making fun of us.

BTW, when are some of these vendors going to make a good gun rack for the G8?

Here's a list of the 2009 models in our system. It's kinda hard to see but out of 5 different cars, 2 of them are actually involved in accidents. The other 3 are brand new bought from General Motors, because of stupid little things and we are required to cut up the cars.. Yes I know it sucks. Keep an eye out on Ebay for sets of wheels and tires or anything else, Sometimes you come across good deals. User ID is LKQOnline

I was behind several cars waiting to make a left turn. The only thing I remember prior to the collision was a snapshot of a dump truck with smoke coming from its tires. No slow motion...just a still picture. When I woke up I had been pushed to the far side of the road against the curb covered in dirt. A witness said the 10 wheel truck was on 5 when it hit me. Thank goodness. Had he hit me squarely it would have been much worse.

I'm still driving mine, with a new engine, but I wonder if its considered "water damaged" since my insurance company paid for the new engine? I didnt drive thru a flooded road just water got in the engine thru my intake. I'll have to run it thru carfax later down the road and see.

Just one more of the "Bad Luck" G8 deaths, like my '08.

Are these cars cursed? I'm almost afraid to drive my '09 PSM. Still has less than 7K on it. :(
