It’s been a while since we had an Owner’s Spotlight, so here’s another one. This Time: Kevin
You may remember him as the lucky SOB who won the Twin Turbo’s from the INTENSE raffle a while back! http://grrrr8.net/home/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

Purchasing the G8
Why were you looking for a new car?
I started looking at cars around February of 08, when I was working in China for about a month. I was bored and only with two other English speaking people so I just started researching cars to help pass time, and happened to find the G8. It wasn’t confirmed yet but I knew it was a cool looking car with the power I wanted.

What other cars where you looking at when you purchased your G8?
Dodge Charger & Chrysler 300C

What made you decide on the G8 in general?
The main reason I decided on the G8 was looks, I just loved the style and lines of the car and the big V8 under the hood help a little. When I finally saw one in person, I knew that the G8 was to car for me.

Why did you pick the color & options you did?
The first color I saw was Panther Black which looked amazing but already had a small scratch and I wanted to see some more colors. I went home and searched and find a few more dealerships. The first one didn’t have any on the lot, so it was off to the next. When I pulled in a saw a White Hot, with sunroof, and onyx interior, I didn’t need to see any more cars.

Looking back would you have picked differently?
I don’t regret purchasing a White Hot G8 at all, I still glance back at it and I’ve had in since April of 08. If I had waited for the 09’s I definitely would settled for Stryker Blue which is my next favorite color.

Dealership & Service
What dealership did you purchase your Pontiac G8 from?
Marty’s GMC Buick Pontiac, Kingston MA

How was your dealership experience?
This was the dealerships first G8, and they only had it for a couple days and it was about to get prepped for the showroom when I saw it. I didn’t even test drive it because the salesman was a young guy and said that when the GTO came out they had a lot of young guys like me who came to beat on the cars. He told me he had a kid whip some donuts in a brand new goat and since then they don’t let people test drive performance cars. I didn’t really care because I knew I wanted that one and went in and bought the car. Now that I look back I wish I would have waited a few months, but you win some you lose some.

Where do you service your G8 and how is that experience?
I do my own service work

Modifications
Have you done anything to modify the car looks wise?
I have not done too much in the way of looks wise; I like the sleeper look of the G8. The only exterior mods I have done are 35% tint all around, 6K HID kit, and debadged the Pontiac letters as well as arrowhead of the back. In the interior I have installed an Autometer boost gauge and a Dynojet air to fuel gauge. I also had the Atari’s hacked by one of our GRRRR8 members GTPrix to look a hundred times better than they did before.

Have you done anything to modify the car performance wise?
The first modifications I did was the Mangaflow cat-back and Roto-Fab cold air intake, because I wanted to hear the big V8 I had under the hood. The next thing I wanted to do was lower it and do some other suspension modifications. After some research I went with the Pedders Track II package, and had it installed at Wretched Motorsports. I couldn’t decide on what to do next so I kept putting off a getting tune which was a big mistake. Eventually I went with the VMS Powerflash ECM/TCM tune; I couldn’t believe how much faster the car felt and shifted. I had some plans about going with a Procharger and headers, but that all changed. INTENSE Racing was having a raffle for an APS twin turbo kit. The tickets cost a hundred bucks so I purchased two, and continued to follow the thread to see how many have been sold. The last night of the contest I had that feeling so I bought another ticket, and sure enough that was the winning ticket. I took a week off of work and tackled the 30 hour installation; with my dad in the garage. I then had the car tuned at SLOWHAWK Performance.

Congrats! So what kind of numbers did you hit after all that?
A very respectable 451RWHP & 498RWTQ

What are you planning next for the car as far as mods go?
The next mods I plan to go will be a set of track wheels, and then a cam upgrade in the near future.

Closing Thoughts
Any dislikes about your car?
I only dislike a few things about the G8 the keys range and response, not having an auto close for the sunroof, and the stereo is not as good as it should be.

Favorite features about the Pontiac G8?
One of my favorite features is being able to have a car full of people and still kicks some ass; I also like the remote start feature even if it has a crap range.

What would you tell anyone who might be considering buying a G8 ?
I would tell someone to buy it! It is a great car if you want a sports sedan, which will surprise the hell out of a lot of people, and get lots of looks.

You would have "settled" for a Stryker Blue - Harrumph!

You have a very nice car and you're lucky too.
