So here's the thread to explain yourself.

Mine is a play on words. fourgasem Sounds like orgasm which is the plate I have on my Vmax which happens to be a V4. I got the inspiration from a Car & Driver from several years back when they tested a bunch of 4 banger sport cars.

DolomiteG8
10-15-2008, 11:44 AM
Dolomite is the name of a sedimentary carbonate rock and a mineral, both composed of calcium magnesium carbonate CaMg(CO3)2 found in crystals.

I'm not a rock nerd. That was taken from Wikipedia.

I'm a big Futurama fan. Dolomite was taken from a phrase that was used by Profesor Farnsworth regarding Fry's fosilized dog in the Jurrasic Bark episode.

Professor: "Not necessarily. For the dog may yet survive."

Fry: "May yet? Really!?"

Professor: "Indeed! You see, that fossil was made of dolomite, the tough black mineral, that won't cut out when there's heat all about! By contrast, observe the lava's effect on this ice swan!"

The Professor opens a freezer door and takes an ice swan out in a pair of tongs. He holds it over the lava pit and it melts within seconds.

Professor: "Of course, that would have melted even at room temperature! I just wanted to get rid of it. But had it been made of that righteous mineral dolomite, there's a slim chance it might have survived."

Fry: "So Seymour might still exist?"

Professor: "Perhaps, for a few minutes. It's dolomite, baby!"

Add the G8 and you get DolomiteG8. :)

It's just a song, my regular handle was taken a few years back (Kyuss, which was after a band, go figure) so I needed to come up with something else and this song happened to be playing. Incon3037R - because before my G8 I drove a turbo charged 96' Nissan 200sx that ran a Garret GT3037r dual ball bearing turbo from a Incon twin turbo Ford F*ckstang kit. The turbo was a oil and water cooled ball bearing turbo with a TO4B Compressor housing with 56 trim T04S compressor wheel. 55lbs/min air flow,.86 A/R T2 exhaust housing with 84 trim GT30 turbine wheel. For such a small turbo it was capable of supporting over 550 hp. This turbo was great on the street. Spooled fast and put down 421fwhp/375ftlb on a 122 cubic inch!!! 4 banger with supporting mods.

Thanks for that. Yes, Joe Perry, Y.A. Tittle, Hugh McElhenney, Leo Nomelini and many others. He actually played for them in 1955, got hurt after one game, which was his last and 6th year w/them. His best year was 1951 where he had 9 interceptions.

He also played 3 years for the New York Yankees of the AAFC, which was owned by the part owner and president of the Yankees baseball team. The AAFC (all american football conference) dispanded at the end of 1949, and many teams merged into the NFL.

WARLOCK
10-16-2009, 12:19 AM
I figured I would just throw this one out there for shits and giggles. everyone on here has a screen name/ handle. some are, well obvious, some not so.. So where did your handle, or screen name come from.
For instance..

WARLOCK - This is actually my screen name from when I used to play battlefield 1942/desert combat online many moons ago. I was in two clans over a two year period. SUB-MOA was my other handle. My highest online rank was like 14th overall as SUB-MOA..
I also use WARLOCK on HPtuners forum, as well as on Intense's 3800 pro forum. which I have not been to that site since i before i got the g8.
I think i also use WARLOCK on a couple of gun forums i used to frequent but couldnt say. my memory isn't what it used to be before becoming a nurse. all that cool useless shit has been replaced by foley catheters, iv's, and lab values. :puke:

so whats in your name?

Used to go by "dipherentdesign" as a clever way of saying i was a unique Graphic Designer. Then I started third_shift|studios as an after-hours freelance company...which turned into the custom emblem shop you know of today. I still have a day job, so the name still sticks. Plus, anyone with a business knows they are thinking about it all hours of the day anyway

I chose my name poorly.

It started off as G8GT4now (the car I was driving at the time). Then I traded in for a GXP. I asked the mods to change my name to G8GXP4now. I already traded the GXP in on a CTS-V, but decided to keep the old name.

I think we should wake this thread up.
I'll be happy to lead off in that effort.

I actually got this nickname from a friend, way back in high school around 2000 or so, who told me about this really cool word another friend had told him about. "Eidolon", a Greek word that meant "shadow". I agreed, it was cool! So I started using that as my handle when playing Perfect Dark against him on the Nintendo 64. Good times. When I started getting involved in this crazy thing we call the Internet, I took the nickname with. It is Greek, but actually means "phantom" or "apparition" and is pronounced "aye-DOHL-uhn".

If I can't get this nick on a board, I'll use "Eidolways" instead. It's a play on the phrase "idle ways" using the first half of "Eidolon".

My real name, meanwhile, is Kevin. So the nick has nothing to do with my name or any other real feature of my life. :)

I12XLR8
07-08-2011, 08:43 AM
Mine's pretty simple I think...my wife has always liked seeing XLRB (accelerate) imbedded within license plates of sports cars. When I started seriously looking for something with power her two suggestions were - 'keep it cheap' (not really a suggestion), and make sure XLR8 is in the license plate somewhere. After MANY different tries with the MTO (our DMV) I12XLR8 was available. It means 'I want to accelerate' which pretty much sums it all up.

EVERY time someone stares at the plate in confusion I tell them to sound out each character separately and I always get 'I twelve accelerate?' ?!?!?! Guess I didn't make it simple enough..;-)

I used it as the forum name because at the time I was unaware that talking about racing on a forum could get me into trouble - so using your license plate is not recommended. That is no longer a problem as I only ever race in Alert (great air there ;-) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alert,_Nunavut

sadly though 5 people on this forum know full well that ain't true.

SO here goes.

Back in HS I set fire to a wall with a paper clip (real macguyver type stuff),

Kid was sticking the paper clip into the wall outet and getting shocked I took it from him, folded it differently put in in a pencil eraser and plugged it in, it arced to the wall which was an old cardboard partition covered in shag carpet, this took down the fuse box in the building and ignited the wall on fire, so to speak

Meanwhile one of my Band geek buddies yelled out NAPALM. and thus a nom de guerre was born.
