I have a really stupid question. My dogs have chewed up the caps on my valve stems and I need new ones. I went to the Chevy stealership and they want $6 a piece for them and they would not give me the part number. A regular cap does not fit the valve stem. Can anyone offer up a less expensive solution or know where I can get these for < $6 a piece. I have a feeling I will be buying quite a few of these. J

Ask Greg @ Pace or try a local Discount tire.

Sounds like a dog training issue. Have you considered trying to train your dogs? That seems like the cheaper route.

Better a valve cap then a bumper cover!

They are < 1 year old, so nothing sticks for very long. Not to mention my training abilities are subpar at best. They also have a doggie door to go from the outside back into the garage, so I've never actually caught them doing it. Lastly there are 3 of them so I'm not exactly sure which one is doing it.
I tried sprinkling Cayenne Pepper on the valvle stems, but that didn’t work either.
I’ll try Greg.
Thanks

I did that when my Golden was a pup and digging holes. That ended VERY quickly...

Discount tire puts chrome caps on when you get tires from them.
Popping a few caps with a Glock would also cure the problem. :p

The TPMS valve stems are longer than the regular ones. Do the ones that Discount Tire give you cover all of the threads?
Using a Glock would end up putting holes in my tires too though (since the dogs are chewing my valve stems). :)

I bought chrome valve stem covers at Autozone and they fit.

I guess I need to go check it out. I don't have an Autozone super close to me so I didn't try there. I went to a couple of others and couldn't find one that was deep enough.
Thanks Ray!

Not sure, it is hard to tell how deep they are.
I went ahead and bought 8 from Greg @ Pace. He got me a much better deal on them even with shipping. I like the all black of the stock ones. Thanks for your help.

Hey smitty - you have aftermarket TPMS in your car right? where'd you get those/ ebay?

Yes, I found them on eBay. It seems like they were takeoffs from a Sierra or something. I cannot lookup the auction anymore, but I used the GM part number on the search. I was a bit skeptical, but it panned out and I believe I spent around $85 for the set shipped. No problems except for the dogs.
If you need the part number, let me know. I don’t have it here, but I have it at home. Rob Moser and I had this discussion on g8board using PM’s and my mailbox got full. I downloaded it to my other computer prior to deleting them.

I couldn't find my information, but I found the information elsewhere. The part number is 15922396. The ones I got had everything: the TPMS, valve stem and the cap. There were a few auctions with just the base, but I didn't want to leave myself with the task of hunting down the other pieces.

I had two of my valve caps stolen today. What's going on with that? I just happened to be looking out the window and saw this kid kneeling down by my car, and really did not think anything of it, but when I went out, low and behold 2 of the caps were missing. People have no respect for anything today.
I had 2 old caps I bought a few years ago for another car and put them on. Will this be OK? Thanks in advance.
