Full disclosure:
I removed the cross member weights. I also removed the passenger seat. Here's my excuse, I weigh 275 pounds. DRUGS said he weighs 215. The seat weighs 50-60 pounds. You do the math.

There, I told you everything. Like it, don't like it, I don't care. My car went 12.166!!!!

:woohoo:

Here's the highlights...

8-10 second burnout

13lbs of air in the rear ET Streets, 41lbs in the M&H fronts

2100-2200 brake-stall

Mat the gas and release the brake in one motion. Let the car shift to fourth.

I knew this run would be a good one. The car did a dig-slip-dig-slip-gone move out of the hole. Then as I'm approaching the 1000' mark, I notice the car is screaming! I glanced at the tach (it was moving around a bit in the lane, there was a nasty crosswind), and I see it's at 6000!!!

Just as I passed the 1000' cube, with-in a few car lengths, it shifted! Into 4th, just past the 1000! I knew it would be a good one! I yelled a bit when the lady handed me the slip. lol

Here's the kicker... The DA was only about -50 to -100'! What would it be in -1000??? Ohs maybe?

Hmmmm, Atco is open for two more weeks...

1st run-->12.276 @ 113.46, 1.784 Spun hard! Over did the burn out, could not see the tach to launch it. Too much smoke inside the car! Probably 2500 or more rpm at launch...

2nd run-->12.206 @ 113.33, 1.739 2200ish launch, spun a few turns.

3rd run-->12.351 @ 111.50, 1.779 Line lock switch broke, small burnout, <2000rpm launch, spun 1st and into 2nd. Removed air filter, the car shifted funny, hanging up on the shift. Air filter back in for next run...

4th run-->12.214 @ 114.16, 1.779 2300-2400 launch, spun hard. Shifting correctly again.

5th run-->12.166 @ 113.13, 1.723 "The Money Shot" ;) 2200ish launch, just the right amount of traction and slip.

I still can't get a 1.69, 1.70, or a 1.71 60'!

PS,
Every run, the car was at 170* or below in the stage beams...

If you guys are interested we could get a track rental going... normally its $100 a car and you can throw in a few bucks to get VHT sprayed out to the 330' mark instead of just the 60'.

We could make it interesting and say something like $130 a car and do a little ET challenge, winner gets $250, 2nd gets entrance fee paid back, and 3rd gets $50. Maybe scrounge up some other prizes as well?

No, honestly, I think the MPH is amazing. I think it's right inline with the power this car makes. Also, I've read where a lot of guys say that the Yank converters are known for big mph numbers.

Don't forget, I have the stock cam, my car doesn't make 420-440hp. My dyno sheet says 353 on it.

GeorgeInNePa
11-30-2009, 09:58 AM
As a PS to the above post, we had a '85 Olds NHRA Stock Eliminator L/SA, 307Olds, Turbo 350, 12 bolt-4.88 rear. On an engine dyno, it would make 360-370ish. That car would run 109-110mph.

Less than 3500lbs race weight, 3485 IIRC, much lighter than us.

So if we figure I really make 420ish at the flywheel and my race weight is about 4100, the MPH sounds about right at 113-114.

Usually a car that is efficient and hooks fairly well will make a higher MPH then one that isnt/doesnt.

That and the lighter weight is why the Olds was going over 110mph on 370 flywheel hp.

Except when you spin them really hard and they grow...

PS
I don't have digital pics of it, but I'll have to scan some pics of it to post.

It will make adjusting quick and it will give you far bigger range of adjustment (ie, toe and camber).

Plus, you can set the bushing itself for freer movement for the track then tighten it up for road use.

Or,at least, so goes the theory...

I know what your trying to do but how will your street tires wear?? Or will you be making adjustments on your own for track and street?

I'll only worry about the adjustments when I set it to "KILL".

Otherwise, it will be aligned and set for street use...

Wow tuff crowd. I have to admit that George's car is pretty impressive for the mods. It won't take much to get to the 11's. Charlie, I'm guessing we'd be a pretty good run on motor, when we dynoed mine it went rich at about 5000, so, when we do tune it finally it should put out another 10-15hp. So with our weight differences it should be a good run. Depends on the launch.
