It's a shame that it's not here since my car is apart. Whats even worse is your procrastinating ass will never install it. :nah:

I'd like to grind off all the unnecessary material, smooth and polish the whole thing and clear coat it.

Charlie,

Something weird I noticed while perusing some tech info just the other day.
From factory the 3 bushes or insulators as they call them all have different part numbers. I read somewhere that you shouldn't mix them up. Perhaps they use different rubber compounds for the different loadings or something.
Not sure if the aftermarket does the same.

92183970 = front right.
92183971 = front left.
92183972 = rear.

:)

Correct. Pedders has 2 that are the same for the front and a different for the rear.

so the different bushings are just for noise/vibration?

Cause when I installed my ones from pedders....they were in the same bag and I didn't notice any paperwork about being different. They looked the same..so I just put them in,don't know in which arrangement I have them.
Been in for a year now...no issues that I know of.

Nope.
What Holden are saying is that the 3 stock bushes they make all look the same but have different properties. Imagine the bushes on each side of the diff at the front, under torque loading one side will always try to compress and the other side will be in tension. So on the compression side the bush might have a compound that better resists being compressed.
Also notice the horizontal distance from the pinion centreline out to each front bush is different from side to side. So in resisting the torque one bush will always have more load on it than the other.
They then say if you mix them up you might experience noise and vibration.

Charlie has said earlier in the thread that Pedders make only 2 types.
Both front will be identical. The rear is different.

Just to save your back Charlie I did peak at the sticker before I shipped it to double check.
I think he only wants to polish it so he doesn't have to lift it into the car anytime soon. ;)

I didnt say I was going to, I want to to save a "little" weight. :wacko:

On the Pedders bushing-all of the bushing have #s/letters on them, the 4 that are the same go toward the driveshaft, the different 2 go towards the bumper.

I actually had them mixed up the first time I installed them. When I took it back apart to install the rods, I noticed it.
