Is anyone thinking of going to this Friday? I was considering going, but when I checked their website it states you have to buy $50 worth of NASCAR merchandise for one session on the track. I heard in the past that you could just pay $25 and go around the track several times, is that kind of deal off now? I personally am not interested in buying $50 worth of merchandise, but would do it for the $25 pass.

Just called and its buy $50 of Merchandise or $25 donated to charity. That sounds much better and I'm probably going to go.

Here’s the link

http://www.lowesmotorspeedway.com/media/news/555210.html

Basically you get to take your car around the track a few times. There’s a pace car that you can not pass and you’re not suppose to pass any other cars in the line up (although I heard in the past they are kind of lax on that).

You have to buy $50 worth of merchandise to get on the track or give $25 to charity.

Too bad I have to work. With my luck I will be in Concord that day, without the car!

I would love to run my car on a twisty track but I really want to run it at the 1/4 first.

Well, this Lowes event is more of a for fun thing. I doubt you'd get to push your car to the limits. I'm also pretty sure there's not going to be any NASCAR talent scouts out there either:)

I heard you have to follow the pace car, and last year a vette was tapped by a conversion van. Not sure how many vehicles are one the track at once, though.

Sounds like it'd be a really good idea to watch a couple of sessions first before diving in. Also and even better idea is to keep clear of conversion vans :surprise:

I am thinking about going, will be in Shelby Thirsday and Friday morning......was told a few years ago that I was not welcomed back, after i smoked out one of the tunnels when leaving......but that was in my truck. Unless they have my mug shot hanging up I would be fine..........lol i did get to bump out 100 mph coming out of turn 2.

You just have to slack back a bit once you take off and let the pace car and the other get a head and then have a little fun catching up.......

I'm still planning on being there. Most likely it'll be around 11:30 AM. If anyone's going I can PM my cell number so we can meet up.

Had a good time today down at Lowes. When we got there (my son and I), we went to the stands and watched a couple sessions. The second session featured two G8s. A Stryker Blue and a black one. I decided to head down and buy a couple of sessions and saw the black G8 coming out of Lowes. I wasn't in my car but I waved at the guy (probably thought I was nuts of something). Went to the track and in my session was a white 2009 G8 GT. Spoke to the lady and her son about our cars and did the first session. I wasn't very heavy on the throttle and unfortunately got stuck in a pack of cars. My second session I figured out how to break away from the packs and cruise on my own. My son took a video of the second session and I'll see about getting uploaded soon.

Coming out of Lowes I spotted Stryker G8GT's car and did a little photo session. The pictures are already posted up in another thread.

Here's some photo's I took from the first session. That was a Nissan GT-R behind me. He didn't stay behind me very long

Looks like fun. I hate that I wasn't able to make it. The dealer had my car from 9:00 until 3:30 today changing the ball joint boots. They originally told me it would be a 2 hour job.... well they were wrong.

How many laps did you do, and what was the cost?

Thanks for posting some pics. The White Hot is not bad at all, especially with that Blue Star in front...

It was about 3 to 4 laps around the track. To get on was either a $25 donation to a charity or you had to buy $50 worth of merchandise. I paid $50 for two sessions.

I had the youtube settings too restrictive. I've opened it up now (this is my first youtube video, so there's a bit of learning involved in this process).

Thanks! You were not suppose to pass other cars, but it happened quite frequently. If you showed aggressive driving then you'd be pulled from the track. You were not suppose to exceed 70 MPH, but a lot of people did.

Believe me I wanted to be way more aggressive, but there were a lot of people there that were just cruising the track. Plenty of SUV's, minivans and trucks. I honestly didn't know what was too aggressive before they tossed you off the track.

The tips from my laps were to stay away from packs of cars, Take the turns slow to get some distance from the cars in front and punch it once out of the turns. But how much WOT would they allow? Don't really know.

I guess if you don't really plan on taking it back in the near future, you could speed and pass all you wanted!

I was talking to one of the track guys, and was joking about the rules then the statement of having fun..........he just smiled and said they have to pass out the rules for liability reasons. I went twice, and both times broke 100 coming out of turn 1 and 2..... it was cool feeling the force of those turns trying to pull you up to the wall. And hit 120 down the back straight away.......of course I made sure there was plenty of room around me.........some people were driving around doing like 35 mph......I actually went so slow the first lap that the pace car caught back up behind me....lol I was waiting for a good opening.

I paid for my first turn, then while sitting in the infield some guy was leaving the track in his magnum and offered me his last pass, said he had went some many times it was getting boring...lol

Was there any photos offered of your car on the track, or was the only option was a photo shot in the winner's circle?

We need to get a bunch of G8's at this thing next year. Although it'd be nearly impossible, it'd be cool if we had enough G8's to where we could do the run with only G8's and no other cars. Then we could say screw the pace car, and just turn it into a flat out race :)

I was thinking the same thing. If we planned it well ahead of time and go on Saturday so everyone could recover from Thanksgiving and Black Friday I bet we would have a pretty darn good turnout! If anyone who shows up for our group can pay for two sessions we could have a 6-lap shoot out! :)

I could inquire with my account manager at Lowe's if anyone would be really interested
