Hi,
Does anyone know of an aftermarket balancer that the procharger crank pulley will work with, or alternatively a balancer that comes with the supercharger belt drive in 1?
I am getting belt squeal from balancer wobble. Apparently the stock balancer is prone to this.

You are using an LS2 balancer from what the GM catalog shows. The LS3 balancer is the same all around except it is 1# heavier. It looks lighter but on the scale it is not, so we are guessing it is made of a more dense material i.e. Steel an not a Powered Metal like the LS2 balancer looks.
Sorry that is the only info I have.

I have a stock balancer if you need it.

Thanks for the quick replies and offers - hopefully I will get to the bottom of this. Wreckwriter had a thread where he said his stock one broke and found out that GM has updated the balancer design/construction.

Greg what do the ls3 balancer's go for? I am gonna strip the pulley and see what I can find. Might have to order one with the cts-v brakes:cheers:

Posting some scans of the two balancers.
Everything I can check looks like they are interchangeable but GM doesn't list them that way.

Hi Wreckwriter,
How did you resolve it - read your other post - you replaced it with a new stock damper and the wobble was gone? What was the consensus as to what happened to the original?

Correct. Unfortunately, no idea why it happened. 2 of 3 spokes were 100% broken, third was 80%. Strongly suggest you check yours.
