Congrats like I said on the other board Drugs!

While that is a great pass and I believe the fastest to date for such simple mods... I think its about normal once we see more people hit the track.

Considering true bolt on cars (intake, exhaust, tune) are going 12.5-12.7 regularly and people are gaining .4-.5 from a converter. Then a bolt on and converter G8 should be running low 12's!

I havent seen very many i/e/t cars going 12.5-12.6's regularly. Maybe 1 or 2. I'd say the norm is 12.7-12.9 for I/E/T. I highly doubt that 12.2s will be the norm for converter/i/e/t cars. I think he has a spot on tune, good driver, good track conditions and a strong car. I would expect 12.3-12.5 to be average for a converter/i/e/t car with tire. Not trying to flame you just stating my opinion and what I can see by looking at the 1/4 mile time list.

It seems all the modded G8's around here on the fast east coast are running solid 12's and there's more on the 1/4 mile list on both forums.

Yes technically the norm is 12.8 with boltons/tune and technically some people have seen gains of .8 with just a converter... so what then?

Heck we still have people arguing whether a converter is even a bolt on or not! Another argument in itself.

To test out this theory I just ordered an FTI 3600 stall!! Thanks to Rich at PM-FL!

Yes I go to fourth, I ran tried holding 3rd and I was bouncing off the limiter and nose diving across the line to a 12.9, so there's no point in doing that. I did the same thing except I went to fourth gear and ran a 12.6!

bahahaha did you run across the scales? I believe my race weight is right about 4,050lbs and I'm about 225.

I just did the simple stuff like swap out the boat anchor battery, floor mats, run with a 1/4 tank, etc..

Then you factor in that a full exhaust takes off about 70lbs, remove the engine covers, etc... and you can take 200lbs off a stock G8 pretty easily.

The rear brake size on the GTO is smaller than the G8GT.

CCW 16" rims just fit.

I doubt you are going to fit 15" wheels on it, grinding the calipers or not...

GTO rears are 11.3", ours are 11.9". Measure how far the calipers stick up beyond the rotor before you order anything.

*NEWBISH QUESTION WARNING*

Why does the time slip with the better 60 foot time, and better trap speed, have slower 1/4 times?

That's a very good question and the only answer I have is that I used M to do the burnout and then D to do the run. The shifts felt funny on that one.

The next run, it launched funny, but shifted great. I used D for the burn and D for the run. I probably lost a bit of the MPH from the bad launch.

You'll see that the last run is better by the 1/8. I made up time on the back half.

The old man set his first NHRA record there in '95. Went 10.57 in B/Stock. Punched a push rod through a rocker arm past the 1000'. We put a new push rod and rocker on it and he backed it up and reset the record at 10.52.
