Morning guys. Well, it was a colder morning and I tried to remote start my car. The car primed, started then immediately died. No CEL. I went to go start the car manually and there was a horrendous tapping noise coming from the front bottom part of the engine. Again, no CEL. After the vehicle warmed up, the noise was gone. It's at the dealer, so we'll see what happens.
I'm used to louder than normal drive train noises, ie from the injectors, but this was 5x as loud -- loud enough for me to think something was loose in there and I shut it off immediately the first time.
Some people say this may be the oil pump, some say the serp belt? I've had cold start belt squeal for a long time now and I am hoping it's that simple.
